haha i loled at your example because of the names xD
but i think i get what you mean, but u did a little mistake.
I'll remake your example more easy.

the Asian(korean, but I somewhere think it's going kinda the same??) artist Bae Seul Gi.

Her last name is Bae. so her first name is Seul Gi. so.. her parent's name were like: dad: Seul Ho and Mum: Gi En or something like tha..

That made me think a lot. Its more like Seul Gi are her last name and Bae is like her name, because her parents names are Seul Ho and Gi En. It's makes more sense.
So, her name should be like Seul Gi Bae. (Unless you typed it right, and i'm wrong).
Cause as far i know, chinese ppl have just 1 name and two surnames.

So, if your name is like, Huan Ba Miro (just an example) and you'd marry a chinese girl with a name like, Yin Ga Aya, then your kid could be named like, Huan Miro Ga??

Wrong. My son can't have my name as a surname lol. Should be named like Huan Ga Kosuke (Random name).

Well, i don't know if the structure of chinese name are the same as the western one.
Example -> Mike Robinson Williams married with Veronica Collins Fisher so their son will be Bobby Robinson Fisher right? (just random names and surnames).

I need to gather more information about this to my parents. :)

Btw, Icy.. you are chinese, right?

haha...

I'm whiter then a snowflake...

But, I'm into Japanese stuff, and asian stuff, so I also listen to some K and J pop. And I have a slight Wikipedia addiction so I Wiki like, everything.

So I also came across Bae Seul Gi.

and if I remembered right it was like, one last name, or family name: Bae, and two first names, or surnames if you like: Seul Gi..

(yea I could be wrong, and didn't research my statement good enough, so I'll just do that in this post.)

okay, different name this time :D

Lee Jung Hyun (nother K-pop singer)

The family name is Lee.

So then Jung Hyun is/are her first name(s).

yeah, just did some searching. my past statement stands, as I wrote them on the Asian way, Surname, followed by given name. (Wiki  )

I used Huan as your surname, Yin as her surname, but I thougth yu figured with the Huan part.. o wait.. could've been first name too then...

okay.... anyways...

yeah I lost myself too again..

Wtf people.

Take me for example, my surname is Zhou.

My Chinese name is Zhou Liang Sun. My mother's Chinese name is Zhou San You. Zhou is just the surname and Liang Sun is my given name. How hard is that to understand? Your name isn't a combined version of your parents'. =\

Okay people i have a chit chat with Tsume (Wich he's chinese too)
and gave me some not 100% sure answers.

Like he said:

Tsume wrote:My Chinese name is Zhou Liang Sun. My mother's Chinese name is Zhou San You. Zhou is just the surname and Liang Sun is my given name.

Yes, it is. I compared it with my name Cam Wei Hong, and its the same structure :/

Tsume wrote:How hard is that to understand? Your name isn't a combined version of your parents'. =\

Well that's weird cause my western surnames is the combination between my both parents surnames.
like Dad's name: Something X N, and mom's name: Something2 Y L. So my name is Mirosuke X Y. LOL

I need to ask one of my parents seriously. I really got confused @_@
Then it's weird that my uncle's daughter (with the mexican woman) has no chinese name.
I really have to dig up that. °A°ll
So, as you can see chinese names is really that hard even for meeh D:

That makes sense. It sounds like traditional chinese names are similar to western names, except the surname (or last name) is written first. You could have a western family:

James Lee Smith
Jennifer Lynn Smith
Susanne Smith
Michael Kyle Smith

Smith is the family name, or last name. So a Chinese family would be

Smith James Lee
Smith Jennifer Lynn
Smith Susanne
Smith Michael Kyle

Well, with Chinese names of course. If I understand correctly, Chinese basically just switch the order of the names. Last/surname comes before the other names.

So what happens when Ming (Lu Ming) marries Jennifer Lynn Smith? Could their son be Lu Zhou Qing? Or would he be Lu Andy (western given name). What about a daughter? Lu Melissa? Lu San You?

I just found it interesting to meet people like for example Melissa Hum, when I'd kind of expect it to be something more traditional like Hum San You. (Sorry to use part of your mother's name, but I don't know chinese names very well.)

I know what you mean with combining parents' last names in the West. Some are like that, some aren't. I believe Hispanic people, at least some Puerto Ricans, do that. Man marries woman, woman keeps her family's surname, and their child takes both parents' surnames. With other western families, everyone takes the father's surname, and has their own individual given names.

Complicate matters some, a father named James Earl Jones might have a son and name him James Earl Jones. Then they would add a "Jr." to the end to make James Earl Jones Jr. :)

Well, most Chinese people will have a Chinese and Engrish name. Take me for example, I never introduce myself as Zhou Liang Sun, always as Sebastian Zhou. However my full name is still Sebastian Liang Sun Karsten-Zhou. I just choose not to use my Chinese name and Engrish surname, at all.

Another example, my Chinese friend at school. His name is Sam Li, Chinese name is Li Hengsen. Basically, in most Asian societies the surname will come first, your surname will most likely be your father's because your mother would probably take your father's surname. And then it's your given name, in Chinese cases it will most likely be more than one word. Also, we don't have names like Michael, John, Brian or whatever in Chinese. You can make a name out of any words you like. That's why every Chinese name is unique =]

So people, that's why you should NEVER ask a Chinese person to translate your name, we can't do it!!!

So in Chinese you can use any word in the language to name a person, like say, the Chinese word for table? I guess that would be like a Western family naming their son River Water Tree. I do find this interesting. :) Sorry if I'm misunderstanding.

Wow, sweet, man. You already found what's my primary language already. But i'm not Puerto Rican :).

So, yeah. I did a mistake taking the full name structure of western names into chinese one. My bad. It's cause does not make sense then why my cousin (uncle chinese, aunt mexican) does not have a chinese name, according what Tsume told me. They could just have put the surname of my uncle. :/

Also, i forgot/didn't know about wifes most of the times they take the surname of the husband.

Not sure about that. But i agree they're unique. At lest i never found someone named as me.
But i think i did lol. Translate? c'mon, i think some they have translation.
Just like in West, they take names like Rose, Sky etc so in chinese/japanese/korean or any asian culture.

Oh, and my chinese language is Cantonese. Still have to learn Mandarine

I want a Chinese name! Then I can go around introducing myself with a hard-to-pronounce Chinese name and watch everyone struggle to say it. hahaha :-)

Maybe one day I'll settle down, but not now. As for age of settling down I don't know; my relationships in the past worked out better if things just happened rather than trying to make things work. (Not saying marriage doesn't take work; it does. Just saying that if you're going into a relationship seeking something long-term you can get hurt in the end.) And for kids, probably not if I don't change.

Dunno. Personal values tell me to get babies but when you look at population forecast charts and see data skyrocket you begin to question really what kind of world it will be with the uncontrollable population increases. Ironically, giving birth to babies will actually do more to harm human existence than it is not to.
