Mac VS. Windows; help me decide
Re: Mac VS. Windows; help me decide
Well, do you want a PC? If so get one with Windows.
Do you want a carefree machine that you can check email with and look trendy? Get a Mac.
Lastly; today you can run Windows on Macs (not talking about crossover), so there's no really reason go for PC.
If you're hardcore gamer, then i would go for PC -setup. Anything else; Mac.
I've been PC user over 20 years, started from C64 - Amiga and this year i bought Mac Pro 8-Core w/ 30" screen. I'll never go back. And if you look around you notice that Mac is very popular in many Professional fields eg. Video and Music. PC's are great for playing games and they're cheap, and you gotta change it once a year.
HAHAHAHAH. Once a year? Your talking about mac right? Shit man, if your talking about a PC thats fucking hilarious. You don't need to change it once a year. I haven't had to change anything to play a game i wanted.

@Leon/Ipman
Lol Blow me? The things people say out of false loyalty to a company brand...
I know you can change the OS and stick a regular non-retarded Mac mouse but I'm pointing out the defaults. If you want to be an aggressive prick over brands of computers, that's completely fine with me. But don't blame me for laughing when I imagining you in those crowds of Mac loyalists who give Apple speeches a standing ovation and thinks using Apple products is a form of lifestyle change. Seriously dude, get a freaking life.
I prefer using PCs over Macs mainly for the reasons I mentioned. If you wanna' go give Steve Jobs a 15-minute intimate lip service, that's your choice
/flame
PS: try not to derail the topic with your sudden burst of internet rage please =p
edit:
For the record, 2 of the people living in my house have Macs. I even went to the Apple store in Manhattan to help them pick one. I tried it and I didn't like it.
I got a cheap Dell desktop from 2003, an HP laptop from 2007 (which I gave to my sister), and this one that I got a few months ago and they're all working perfectly fine. Unless you smash and punch your PCs every time someone says that they don't like Macs, there's really no need to change it every year.

I give credit where it belongs. Both have pros and and cons and from MY POV, based especially on price, I'd rather get the PC. Not a PC loyalist, if Macs and PCs were given the same price range based on their specs and certain programs/games were made Mac-compatible, I'd have to vote for Mac. But until then, Ipman can ******************************.

That's from your inability, not the OS.
the OS is too confusing to do stuff you normally do on windows. like my example making a web page tried the normal text editor. saved it as a .htm and .html and didn't work......typed the exact same code in notepad in windows and it worked.
besides windows you can customize it more :p got to love the windows xp to vista/7 conversion.
@Ipman lmao my computer is up to 6 years old and with the downgraded Intel Celeron single core 2.4ghz. yet i can still play high end games and a graphics card that only supports directx 8..... sure i cant play it with max graphics but it still looks hella nice anyways.

go for the mac
vista sucks and the mac will most likely last you longer. also if you really need to run windows there's always bootcamp

Well, you can downgrade to XP or wait for Windows 7.

Re: Mac VS. Windows; help me decide
I used my dad's mac for some time and for me, a windows user, it was very complicated, it took me like 10 minutes to figure out how to copy-paste, and like 30 minutes to get to a file that I had saved.
And as pointed out, windows are the way to go for gaming.
But if you're already used to using a mac and you feel like you'd give it more use than the windows, just go for it.
Imo you should get the pc since you could do the stuff you'd do on mac + gaming.
@ Morgoth: lol there's nothing wrong with vista, I just swapped from xp to vista and I'm doing great, I don't really get what all the crap on vista was about.

TBH, believe it or not, I only go on 4chan like 1-2 times a month.
Other than that, I would use 4chan as my hw machine when needed. Recently, I actually had to do a debate that Apple was batter than PC, and I went on 4chan and posted "macfags report in, tell me why Macs are better than PCs" The results were good and profit was high, some people had some really good points, others were just being /b/tards. I even saved the the thread lol
Heres the thread if any of you are interested lol:

Same thing I was wondering about...My sis has been using her PC for 5 years and it still runs fast, and the ram/storage shiz aren't so good either (was pretty cheap). I have been using this comp for 2 years+ and it runs great :\.

That's most likely because you're trying to use it the same way you use Windows. It's like being really good at Guitar Hero then expect to be really good at playing a real guitar. You have to relearn how to do basic functions in a new environment instead of trying to keep comparing it how it's not like Windows.
@OP
Make a list of of things you might use the computer for and then maybe a list of software that you want. See which OS is most compatible to your needs.

QFT, couldnt've said it better myself. I bet you didn't know how windows worked when you first started using a computer as well.. So don't go all stupid on the OS just because you dont have the patience to learn something new.

Re: Mac VS. Windows; help me decide
Well after my father's Mac Pro crashed for the like 2nd time in a week and needs to go back for repairs to Apple I guess I made my decision. I never had any problems with a windows pc hardware-wise. Considering the iMac is really a sealed system, I'm afraid that if something goes wrong the whole has to go back to immediately.

this thread was predictable...
mac -
pc -
mac -
pc - etc.
imo you can say one is better then the other but they practically do the same things, just in different manners. from the looks of it you have put a lot more thought into a windows machine since you know all your parts (sorta) so i can only assume after all this you will go with a pc. from these threads and personal experience i have learned that it is pointless to argue over which is better since both sides have an infinite number of possibilities and with the right know how can perform the same tasks. i am open minded about each side but if i had to choose it would be pc since i am already familiar with them and they are more common then macs in the computing world. in a way asking a forum is bias, there are usually more pc enthusiasts then there are mac enthusiasts and both sides will defend each other to the end.

Not gonna read anyone else's posts..but uh
If I googled the proper imac you're looking for (if i didnt ignore this), the apple store says it's 2100$ with basic parts.
The part difference is absolutely retarded, go with the pc for the love of god O_O

Chances are if you had a stem cell and were careful with what you did rather than download or browse any kinda crap you KNOW looks odd, you'd never have a virus. I have never had an anti-virus installed on my PC and have never had any kind of virus/addware/spyware etc.
