here is a nice little article i found at Fudzilla:
Black people can't drive
Microsoft's hands free games controller, Project Natal ironically has a problem with Black people.
Named after the last place in the world with legislated apartheid. Project Natal has been receiving high mark in terms of innovative technology and unique ideas. But it seems the controller has a few problems when it comes to users who are not white.
Dan Hsu on Bitmod noticed that when game consultant and former Newsweek writer N'Gai Croalgave Paradise a test drive, however, the game had trouble reading his steering actions. While it could read his feet, which were covered in shoes, Project Natal would not let him steer the car.
However there was no problem when another driver was at the wheel. True, Croalgave does have dreadlocks but if that was a problem someone with long hair would also send Natal into a spin. Apparently it might be a problem with the near-infrared spectroscopy, which has a problem detecting darker skinned individuals.
The NIRS device failed to register tissue saturation values at some point in nine of seventeen volunteers. It seems that when it is used in hospitals patients with a dark pigmented skin, NIRS StO2 measurements should be interpreted with caution, as melanin clearly interferes with the quality of the reflected NIRS signal.
It could mean that black people have to play with their Xbox with gloves and a paper bag on their heads.
rofl at the last line
btw project natal is microsoft's response to the wii infamous control scheme in case you didn't know about it.

+1 to Lana. Thought they would take something like that into consideration.
I would prefer for it to remain on OTL, I posted for the lulz this kind of thing happening with said technology is rather understandable and not all that amusing.

last line is very lulz. Isn't this pretty much the PS Eye, but better? Can't really say against the Wii since it doesn't use a controller like the Wiimote.
If being a loser means not playing Silkroad all day.. lulwut?
I just hope they don't end up like the Wii; where like 80% of the games created are nothing more than downgraded versions of real life sports and activities. I don't know about you guys but Nintendo pretty much sold itself out to a crowd of self-absorbed vegetarian soccer moms.
Then again...if they can make a Project Natal version for Microsoft's currently available games, I could imagine how playing something like L4D hands-free would be appealing. Just make sure you hide it from the kids unless you want your furniture wrecked.
Lol...I guess people would have to avoid getting a tan to play PN.

Lol soccer moms and i would quite enjoy talking with Milo and helping him fish No seriously i would, well who wouldn't want to try.
I think it's sad people flag this as racism, it's just a technological flaw. It's bad publicity for Microsoft and they (hopefully) didn't intend for this to happen.
