How is a game not real life? Is football real life?

A computer game is not real life. A non-virtual football game is real life.

Just because the action doesnt take place in real life, doesnt mean that the decisions you make arent representative of who you are.

I don't believe they are. A game allows you the safety of anonymity. You can do or say something from the safety of your computer screen.

Yea, the computer game isn't real but the people playing it are real. People don't suddenly change and start acting differently because it's a game unless their role playing.

Many people who bot are opportunist. They do it because they can. There are no consequences for their actions or the consequences are simply insignificant. If a similiar situation should arise outside of the game that doesn't conflict with their morales or involve extenuating circumstances, I'm pretty sure they would break whatever the rules/laws are and take advantage of that situation as well.

You're dead wrong curve. It's because of that anonymity and safety why a player decision IS a representative of who they are. In fact they are most likely to hide certain aspects about themselves in the presence of others in real life. But behind a computer screen they can be more open because the fear of criticism is not there

Well then it comes down to which is the real you? The person you are in real life? Or the person you are on a game?

Personally, I believe the person you are in real life is who you actually are.

What I meant to say was that morality in a game isn't morality in real life.

Imagine killing somebody in real life, thats horribly wrong right?
Imagine pking/pwning somebody in Silkroad,is that bad as well?

As u see, different surroundings, different morality thats what I wanted to point out. Thus game=no forced morality besides TOS and Real life is filled with it.

Has anyone thought about how it's partially our own faults for succumbing to the temptations of botting vs joymax's fault. Back in the old day, there were less bots since JM was actually running around asking ppl and banning them. Now, they don't even appear in the servers, which makes it the top game for me where you never see an admin in game. I really think it's Joymax's stance on botting that made people just not care anymore and start botting. Most of my friend's started off as non-botters, but shortly after 70 or 80 cap, they saw botters capped and safe. Hell, we even had botters bragging and daring JM to ban them so they can chargeback. They are still here playing today.

I think it's JM's conduct that led to botting being as rampant as it is today. If they had kept up that banning spree, banning playerbots by hand and goldbots automatically, this game would be alot cleaner with only a handful of botters secretly baby-sitting their bots.

Then if they were still upto the task of getting rid of botters they most probably would of eventually done somthing to block the program.

Very true. Its time all you people stop wasting your time blaming "botters". Cheating, stealing, lying are things that will never go away. Blame JM 100% for the bot problem. Like I said a long time ago,...you can't leave the doors of your house open and go out and when your stuff gets stolen you get angry and blame the thieves.

This is directed to those saying botting gives you real-life bad habits, ect. If we want to talk about "real-world ethics" to be learned from this game I think chargebacks are about the only issue that really matter, it have much more real-world implication than any other thing in silk, in fact the it's only thing that does. I see enough people talk about chargeback like it's all good, or that joymax has it coming and that chargeback is just a standard part of the procedure to "quit" the game. Any outsider looking in will agree. I'd prefer have kids walking away from this game thinking "it's best to take the easy route" rather than "fraud is OK."

OFF Topic: This topic and "Why Continue" pretty much mean the same thing...so ima compy n paste my answer from the other topic
On Topic
This game is ruined.
It has one of the best graphics i ever seen ingame
Gameplay is amazing for euros
The skills are just pure smexy

BUT
It has full of trks running around asking for 10k
Spam bots
gold bots
greedy company known as geymax
server traffic
bots..bots..and more bots
ccfers
gold sellers
spawn campers
inflation in market due to goldbots once again

so u ask me why i bother to play?
i play for my friends
for my own entertainment(grinding n chilling with friends overseas)
it may b too much for some ppl to handle
but its at a tolerable level for me.

I used to spend a lot of time in the country with my grand parents. The house was never, ever locked. Nothing was ever stolen. Why? People that lived there weren't douchebags. You can and should blame the thieves. If not for the thieves your stuff wouldn't be stolen. So who's at fault? It's not illegal to leave your door unlocked but it is to steal.

Oh god you people can't be blaming Joymax for this. It's your choice to bot..Joymaxs influence is only that, an influence. Sounds like you're using Joymax's lack of care as a scapegoat for botting.

Btw..Joymax never, EVER did huge, real bot bans. The time of the server lists was to late and they were only banning the lesser bots and if you go back further there were no 'big lists'. This game was never under GM observation. Saying the downfall of said observation was the reason people started to bot is bullshit. The game was always under terrible control and the reason bot population went up is because more people started to play, the cap got higher and it became harder to level.

Time to forget the bots. Why bother with something that cannot be bothered? I see a bunch of desperate kids trying to figure out geymax when clearly it is unpredictable like a random segment of codes
Move on, bots win, we lose, only at the end do we understand, the glory days are over, considered urselves veeterans, play the game, dont complain, or dont play at all
