Teeth Enamel
I'm starting to be more conscious about the condition of my teeth now. I don't want to stop drinking pop, but I want to keep my teeth enamel in good condition. Could I just drink pop with a straw instead of drinking it straight from the bottle/can, or will it still wear away my tooth enamel?

Re: Teeth Enamel
I don't think using a straw would help. After all, the drink would still make contact with your tooth. What you could do is use those toothpastes from Sensodyne and what not that strengthen tooth enamel. I heard they help.

Re: Teeth Enamel
its possible as long as the pop never touches your teeth and only your tongue and throat.
but even if you did save your enamel using a straw your already screwing up your bones in the long run so dont drink it at all

Re: Teeth Enamel
Drinking pop will be completely fine. It takes about an hour for your teeth enamel to replace it's self.
If you are really interested, I think chewing Trident gum or any dental gum should help your teeth in the long run. Trident has a few different kinds that each have some effects on how they work on your teeth.
Other than that just brush your teeth at least twice a day and floss.

At first, I was like wtf is pop? Then, I googled it and found out it was another word for soda in Canada. You should've told us. -__-
OnT: Don't drink soda, drink Gatorade.

thats more a mid/north-west thing, ppl down south tend to say coke...
OnT: soda is bad for your teeth but if you brush daily and make sure it doesn't linger then you'll be fine, but the same goes for most foods really even breads can be harmful if they're left too long in your mouth...

Re: Teeth Enamel
I hate sodas.
Too sweet, makes my teeth feel sticky and makes me burp too much. Besides, if I'm Farking thirsty I can't just drink a few glasses of soda in a row because of the damn bubbles. I can't drink anything fast with bubbles. It's my bane in drinking games

There are hundreds of studies on "energy drinks" and the conclusion is this - they are all scams and do not do what they claim they do - hydrate. Drinking soda or gatorade and the likes does not replace your body fluids after or during physical activity...they do the opposite because of their high sugar content.
Just drink water. Obviously brushing your teeth immediately after drinking soda would prevent damage to your teeth, but are you disciplined enough to actually do it?

actually since most soda is acidic brushing your teeth directly after drinking it would probably exacerbate the erosion process...a mouthwash would be better or maybe a dental gum like someone suggested (not sure on that) but really thats a bit excessive, normal daily brushing with the paste that help strengthen tooth enamel should help...

I'm not, but I was bored at work one day and realized I was getting like 1k every day off Mountain Dew alone. I haven't had soda in like 3 months.

Since teeth enamel wears away from acid and it likes a slightly basic solution, and toothpaste is basic, wouldn't toothpaste neutralize the acid and be good for your teeth? How exactly does it make it worse?
