Workouts

Post by pipigrande »

I got a question about workouts.

Say you have to do 100 Push Ups a day.

Would it be the same if you do 50 in the morning and 50 in the night vs doing all 100 at the same time? Would the workout work the same way?

This question not only applies to Push Ups but I mean in general (Push Ups was an example).

Weird. I was just looking up some workouts online right now

I personally think it'd be better to do them all at the same time of day. But I don't really know

true, :) sure you can, some
the trick is to keep doing the basic, so i push up everyday morning its like tooth brushing every morning, every morning routine :P
i recommend the chest workout, cause what most strikes in eyes of woman is when you have big chest even if you have not so big arms and stuff 8)

If you can do them all at once then that would be better. The harder you push yourself the better the results.

Or do pushups with a weight on your back. 8)

Nice routine ausi,

my guess would be doing all 100 at once will build you up faster than splitting the workout into 2 sets,
muscle growth happens when you stretch the muscle and the body fulls that stretch with protien, so i really immagine your muscle will stretch further in the one workout.
try to eat good protien food like fish and eggs before the muscle cools down to help with the repair, if you like.

i hope that helped =\

I think it would be better to do it at the same time of day, because the point is to exhaust your muscles. Doing 50 in the morning and 50 later gives your muscles time to relax which I dont think would be as effective as doing it all at once.

All at the same time.

The term "feel the burn" actually has meaning. Doing them all at once means you would be continuing to do push-ups even when your muscles are tired, which causes them to work harder and thus build up a natural strength or tolerance. As time goes on, 100 will seem easy, so add a few more to keep stressing your muscles.

Just don't overdo it and hurt yourself.

The point in workouts is to strain your muscles as much as you can, without causing actual injuries. I'll try to explain it with my nooby english... Your muscles are build up from long strings of cells. When you strain your muscles enough, some of these will break from the pessure put on them. This causes your arms/legs/whatever to hurt after straining them. In a little time, your body will dismantle the broken stuff, and create MORE new ones instead of them, this leads to more muscles.
I hope I was understandable, and again, sorry for my nooby english.

Do you want to look really strong, because if you do so, you shouldn't do 100 push ups everyday.
Then you better go to a gym.

Routine training push up every morning 50 and 50 at night is pretty good,
gym is not everything :) ppl go to gym 3 months then they quit,, but this is better. :P

I do my exercises in the dark, and my right arm is significantly stronger than my left.

Of course, there's direct correlation between amount of light and which arm gains strength.

On a similar but, in reality, a different vein, do crunches, not sit ups, sit ups don't work as well.

Also if your worried about upper body strength try this:

"If you have dumb bells, i would start this with 15lb in each hand. Do 20 curls and take a ten second break, then do it again. Repeat four times. That is for bicep workout.

For triceps, use a curl bar with like 30lbs to start with, and lay on your bench and hold it like you were going to bench it, then bend your forearms and bring it down to your forehead then back up, do same amount of sets as biceps, with a 10 second break.

And for the peck's i suggest clap pushups and benching."

^Friend of mine does this.

Why so small breaks, and high amount of reps? Unless your mainly going for stamina.

To improve strength, its generally much better to do low amounts of reps.

I started doing workouts like this...

10 pushups daily... was doing that for few days, then started to do a bit more...
I was doing 10 pushups in morning, 10 in evening ... then 10 pushups became piece of cake, and
I started doing 20 pushups in morning, and 20 in evening ...

and now I'm doing 30 pushups in morning and in evening ... the best thing about all this is that I WANT to do them, there is no moment "Oh no, I dont want to do them now..."
Infact, im going to do 30 right now, even I finished my night shift.

@OT: I dont think it will be the same, its about pushing your body over your limits that shows improvement.

Great Replies.

On the side note, I used push ups as an example. But yeah, I need to get stronger in my chest, arm and legs.

I'm playing basketball (at college level) and I need to get stronger :)

LOL that's exactly what I started doing like a week ago. I'm doing some push-ups daily just to make a routine and strengthen my arms a bit, legs are fine:D

Shouldn't your coach be giving you tips then? Also...what about conditioning? Isn't that supposed to make you more fit in all those areas?

Chest is probably the easiest body part to train.

I did some research on the push ups and what people think about them. From what I've seen, bodybuilders agree that push ups are a great way to develop your upper body and are practical cause you can do them at home so I'll stick to a little workout at home and hope to see some results in the future:D

Actually.. push ups are known to be much less effective than weight workouts.

Their mainly used for army etc and testing, not for working out.

Still like doing them anyway.

Push ups are good for people who can't do push ups.

Obviously once you reach a certain threshold push ups won't be effective for you.
