recommended, seen it today, old star trek fans would get all the references in the movie like the guy wearing red suit always dies :D. if you have never seen star trek you'll still find it entertaining since it goes back to the beginning.

Saw it today, being a bit of a trek junkie, was annoyed by a few flaws (T'be sad) but as an action movie, it was great!

Also loved the in-jokes

Basically.

I'm a trekkie and I LOVED it. I had my reservations, but it didn't let me down AT ALL. I was laughing at all the little trek jokes while my friends were oblivious, I felt nerdy and it felt good lol.

Few things were off, but that's okay, it blew my expectations out of the water.

One summer I watched Star Trek every night before going to bed because it was the only thing on TV. I don't particular love the show, or am aware of the story behind it, but I really did like the movie.

watched it enjoyed it, inconsistancys with pre-made star trek lore was acceptable although did bug me, nicely made movie good for newbys to the trek scene.

i give this a good 8/10

ps the main antagonist romulan? hah major flaw there he was captain of a mining vessle which is definatly romulan i mean give a romulan a card board box they will be quantom torpeados on it but here is the one that will get ya romulans dont mine or take postion on the front lines. thats the job of the remans who occupie the neighbouring planet of remus to romulus the homeplanet to the romulans which as you already know are a distant relative to the vulcans they split off just before the vulans lost their warp technology (literally lost they had to rediscover).

so the basis that its a romulan crew base is just stupid the ship and the flag is romulan but in theory the crew should be reman ie the crew from the antagonist's ship in nemesis.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I kept trying to explain it to my friend but he couldn't remember Nemesis much.

The inconsistencies with the st lore (like awesome (er) tech IE: the targeting systems and computer voice) did annoy me.

ima janeway fan....someone about a strong woman

Wow. Finally. Someone else who puts them in this order. I LOVE LOVE the women in Voyager. Strong, independent, forceful, adventurous, complex. In all the other Star Treks (exceptions: that one emo chick 'you killed my family now you die' in DS 9 and Tasha Yar in Gen) the women are relegated to bullshit caregiving roles and their characters are just so flat. I was happy that the female roles in Voyager were much more complex than Deanna Troy. God I hate her. I see her and I just want to punch her a bit and pull her hair.

Going to see this movie over the weekend :)
