Anyone play Cabal, Shaiya, and Rappelz?

Trying to decide which MMO to take on this summer alongside WoW, so if anyone has played all three (or just one) please shed some light. The linked review's are a bit ambiguous.

I'm leaning towards Shaiya right now because of the awards it has won a few years ago.

out of those, i have only played cabal, cabal beta. it was good, that's my recommendation.

I played Shaiya, it was great fun. Nice races to choose from, however I don't really like the skill system, it's a bit...Retarded =\ But besides that it's a great game, many different classes to choose. It's not too grind heavy, and there are some nice quests to do.

The characters run really cool and you can swim, jump etc etc. It's really fun to jump into lakes from really high places =]

But if you really want another , then I recommend Cabal. It's like silkroad 1.5

The only thing I'm gonna have to point out with the cons is that the main maps are pretty small in comparison to SRO. But I guess having numerous dungeons is a good compromise.

Shaiya is an awesome game, I played it before but I reformaed my computer and after that I've been to lazy to install it.

The only thing I'm gonna have to point out with the cons is that the main maps are pretty small in comparison to SRO. But I guess having numerous dungeons is a good compromise.

Cabal has downsides as well.

1: broken craft system (drops are better than crafts).
2: repetitive quests. When you look at it: it's either kill, kill and collect drops, run in the same dungeon or talk to person X.
3: No quests after lvl 100 (yes that's a whopping 70 lvls to grind)
4: Very few places to exp decently: 3 spots in Mf (big, small and loba's), 1 in PF (cornus/brachiums ring).
5: general boredom because you'll be doing the same dungeons over and over again while not getting any cash out of them unless you're a lucky bastard.

Imo cabal's pvp is extremely boring. Two chars doing the flashy skills with no coordination at all, it's bad for the eye.
Tho i enjoyed the game the little time i played it (on that private server).

I never tried Shaiya so i cant say a thing about it.
But i did play rappelz years ago, and decided to play it again about 5 months ago (when i was waiting for PangYa to be on again).
Rappelz is fun if you have people to play with, friends, etc. Quests are boring and at the end what it matters is being inside of a cave with a party and level up as much as you can. I had a lvl 80 kahuna, and then made a Summoner (Soul Breeder) with an evo3 pet, blah blah.
Good thing about that game is that you can "exchange" item mall products, sell them on stalls or better yet to use the Auction House.
The game is a lineage rip off and the item mall is, based on what most of the people who have purchased gpotatos--including me--say, expensive.
Dunno what else to say , i just hope you find another game to play along with WoW and HAVE fun.

Lol your idea of pvp is different from mine then. I personally don't like the PVP and I prefer PK matches since they last a lot longer and it's not as simple as mindless combo+skill bash. If you're referring to the usual "pvp" where people bitch about roll/fade/debuffs so they end up doing a 3-10 second straight combo match, then yes, those are extremely boring.

in my opinion :

Silkroad
1.0 ->current
1.1 ->bugs fixed
1.2 ->anti-cheat added
1.3 ->huge graphical improvement.
1.4 ->better way of leveling added
1.5 ->balance and better pvp system upgrade

That's what Silkroad need (and even if Joymax starts working, its like 1 year/ new version ) and that's what Cabal offers . (and it's no 50%, it's like 200% , cause these would make a game a game )


u. i : I just leveled up a wizard on a private server, and when I saw the mirror image skill (dunno the exact name) I was shocked. It's the best coolest most awesome skill I ever saw in a game

You will.

I use about 3 different combo's while playing.
1 for AoE stunlock Pve
1 for boss PvE
1 for PvP

All the above combo's exist out of 5 different skill templates.

4 original ones and 1 that has different colours and a slight speed difference (cannons+lances).

Thus using 5 skills from 100 > 14X it boring no matter how fun the combo mode is.

Cabal, to me, looked good in the beginning. I got to like, level 10? I had already started getting bored, and I just didnt like it. Kudos that you play WoW, I think its still the best MMORPG around, but I quit like 2-3 years ago. I wish i could buy it all again, but paying the monthly fee is like paying rent for me, cose im poor and all . If you hav'nt played it before, you should definetly get it. Its worth the money, everything was balanced for me, mounts were cool and all. But again, this was before the WOTLK, and BC, so I dont really know whats new.

About those other games, I havnt played them, so i cant say anything.

Lol for people around 140+, the only things to do so far are PK, FT/EOD2/VC/LW dungeons, boss hunt, or grind in MF/PF. But it's not half as bad as SRO where the only places to grind are packed with capped nuker bots with names like "asflsjg932." Making another char isn't actually that bad either as long as you get past the boring skilling.

With a decent party, you can just channel hop and kill the bosses from channel to channel. You can kill Quadras and lower with cheap gears if you have a decent group of 4-6 14Xs. Pluma and lower if you get a few 140-16Xs together. You can even solo or 2-man Penna.

I dunno what kind pvp do u guys do

Japanese PvP?(with dash and fade)
Foot by Foot? (use ur speed combo to take out ur opponent)
or Full Buffs PvP?

on my server, we do foot by food PvP with no short buffs or debuff
but FB can do Debuff cuz only few FBs know how to use Debuff in combo.

one thing i hate about cabal pvp is that once ur combo break and got kd, u are screwed!

I've played all three games. IMO, all three of these games are boring. But, Shaiya is the best of them. Shaiya has the best graphics, gameplay, and PvP of all these three games.

They seems to have the same minor things.. i'd get bored.
Compared to SRO, i'll stick to SRO

Anyways, between those two. I'll get Rappelz.
