I need a new comp, less than $600

Post by McLovin1t »

I have to pay and I only have $600 USD to spend, I am on cyberpowerpc and they have some good stuff, my bro got his laptop there and its good, im jw if this computer "loadout" is good?
Bang for the Buck, could play games and go fast, I could substitute the Dual 3.0 processor for a quad 2.5 if its better, only 20 more USD, not trying to advertise, im just a computer nub and I need to know if this is a good deal :?

You don't have too much time to decide.
Just you know it doesn't come with everything in the picture, even though most of that stuff is optional.

Can always save money on keyboard/mouse and that kind of stuff if you still think your current is good.

When I buy a new 'PC' I buy a motherboard, graphics card, memory, processor and power supply. Nothing more.

It's a good deal. I got my quadcore for only 400$, but that's because I built it myself.

Heat. and size obviously, if you can't fit everything in xD.

That looks like a pretty good buy. If you only game just go for dual core; quad is more for video rendering and heavy multitasking.

only cons, which may not be cons to some people..
intel stock heatsink for the CPU sucks.
msi motherboards are iffy imo
"major brand" powered by nvidia video card.. meh.
doesn't specify what the power supply is.. could be a problem for when you upgrade to a new video card in the future.
no monitor, modem, or OS (if you didn't see that)

probably not for an enthusiast with money, but I think it's more than enough for your personal needs.

Edit: I have this case: NZXT Zero 2 Craft Series Full-T Case http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... l-T%20Case It was 120$ when i bought it thou...

I have the OS and everything, just need a new system, I have a widescreen HD monitor, but the major brand, I can get it $5 more and get the EVGA brand. Uhh so is it an OK deal, Im not a heavy gamer, just WoW or some other MMOS, wont need to upgrade my video card as I have a 6800 now :( and wow works fine etc. So is it an OK deal? And Quad or not to Quad lol? Motherboard and heat are fine as I was saying, I have an extra fan and energy thing so im good wit that too.

Those fans might do it... But i doubt he's actually packing the hardware that needs those fans.

I also have the antec nine hundred, let's see.. 2x 120mm fans at the front for hard drive cooling + pulling cool air, back exhaust and a 200mm "bigboy" on the top exhaust.
Are the extra fans making my computer faster? Yes.
With my old case I couldn't overclock my CPU much without it exceeding 60C+, now it's gone from 2.4ghz --> 3.2ghz without ever exceeding 45C. :)

McLovin, go for it. Dual core is what you want for gaming.

if your CPU is overheating from overclocking you need a better heatsink, not a better case.

Got both, good airflow is key. No point having a good CPU cooler if it's just going to blow warm / hot air on the heatsink.

Maximum PC's $500 PC: certified Crysis-safe

PC Gaming has a bad rap in some ways. A good system is expensive, computers are hard to maintain, it's easier just to put a disc into a tray and play the game—the list goes on and on. Those who love PC gaming would have it no other way, however. Put a little extra work into building your own and be careful about what you buy, and you can have a killer system for a surprisingly reasonable amount. To prove the point Maximum PC built a system that can play Crysis at 1900 by 1200 at 36 frames a second, and the whole thing cost under $500... barely.

Here's what they put together:

* Motherboard MSI P43 Neo3-F LGA 775
* CPU Intel Pentium E5200
* Videocard Powercolor AX4870 512MB
* RAM Crucial 2GB DDR2/800
* Hard Drive Western Digital Caviar SE WD3200AAJS
* Optical Drive Samsung SH-S223F
* Case + Power Supply Rosewill TU-155 II 500 Black

Seems like a fine set. Not too sure about the cpu though, I'd pick E8400 for example and add a gig or two of RAM, it's not too expensive.

PS. And the cases not only affect how much stuff you can put in there and the airflow, it's an important factor determining the noise the computer makes. Often when you're trying to get the maximum "bang for the buck" you're going to have to compromise a bit when it comes to silentness. Silent components tend to be expensive. Sure you can do some "do-it-yourself" soundproofing if the system makes annoying noise.
