computer problem!
so from my generic thread title i have a problem with my rig. i've had this problem for a while where sometimes my computer will just crash, bluescreen, restart itself, and then it just won't load XP until i restart like 10 times. this just happened today twice today, last time it just happen when i was moving a large file to another drive and it bluecreened right while it was moving. other things that are associated when this happens are delayed write file errors or something like that and very sluggish performance on anything, like being on FF surfing. tbh i think it might have to do with my HD since i have heard about a lot of problems with the seagate barracuda series and having high failure rates for the bigger HD's, mines a 750gb. anyways, just want to know if anyone can help me figure out what is going on. btw its working right now but i'm scared to try and move any big files around.

Re: computer problem!
Sounds like your hard drive is failing. Hope you still have your windows install disk.

Re: computer problem!
I have the Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 (ST3500320AS 500gb) and I've had zero problems so far...but it does sound like an HDD failiure. You could do one of those S.M.A.R.T. HDD tests though I totally forget how and don't feel like finding out >.>
I really only heard of the 1.5 drives failing a lot..but hey who knows.

Re: computer problem!
That sounds like smart failure.
I only say this because it's what happened to my bro's laptop. Have you ever hit your computer? that could cause smart failure pretty easy.

Re: computer problem!
Are the crashes/bluescreens when you open up certain applications/fails?
You should do an error check on your harddrive and get a program to monitor your systems temperature, because overheating can also result into your computer slowing down and giving bluescreens/crashing
if it gets to the temperature limit of the hardware the power on that part will be cut off to prevent damage resulting into a crash/bluescreen
Also when you get a bluescreen take a pic or write down the errorcode

nah the temp is fine, barely goes to 40c. and the bluescreens are pretty much just flashed at me for a split second then my system reboots automatically.
also BTW my HD is partitioned.

Re: computer problem!
you have a bad sector on your hard drive . if it's soft related it can be fixed by scan disk for errors . if it's hardware related (accidentally hit your hard or fall ) buy a new one .
