What I did was...
For left eye: Hold left eye open with left hand, put contact in with right index finger.
For right eye: Hold right eye open with left hand, put contact in with right index finger.
Be sure to clean them every time before you use them. Also make sure they're on the right way or else they bug like a bitch. Um...if you can...I suggest glasses. If you get a frame you like, then you can just throw them on and take them off when needed. The only real annoyance is cleaning them.

I wore mine while skating. As long as you get a good pair they'll stay on. Plus they are way more comfortable to me.
Ask your optometrist. I looked into them, realized they were moderately expensive, then dropped that notion.

For sure. I always wanted some. I figured it would be too big of a change for everyone since they're all use to my normal eye color.
And thanks. I do it for the masses.

Those usually cost ALOT.
Contacts rock, took me 3 days to get used to em. I put em in and take em out anywhere, no mirror or anything. Plus since I've had contacts having an eye lash in your eye is nothing compared to being a big baby dealing with irritation for hours while now I just stick my finger in my eye and get it out. I guess it's just a change of sensitivity maybe?
Make sure you are wearing them properly. First time I wore them one was inside out which was irritating.

Re: contacts...
My first tip to you is to buy them at your local supermarket or whatever. Contacts at the optician (right word?) cost me 22 euro per month. At the HEMA (big convenience store) they cost me 3 euros per contact, PER THREE MONTHS!
I don't notice the difference but I certainly do when I have to pay for them.
I never had any troubles putting them in. The way I do it is I first look up, and then I use the hand opposite to the eye I am putting my contacts in to pull up my upper eyelid with like 2 fingers.
So if I'm doing them in my right eye, my left hand lifts the upper eyelid. Then with my right hand I have the contact on my index finger and I use my middle finger to pull down my lower eyelid. Then I just gently move my index finger towards the eye until it touches it and I'm done.
I do the same but then with left and right switched for my left eye.
Taking them out used to be hard for me cause I tried keeping my eyes open and that stuff, but it's really not even necessary. All I use nowadays is my thumb and index finger. I pull down the bottom of my eyelid and move my thumb and index fingers forward till it reaches my eyeball, and then I press them a little bit together. That usually gets it done for me.
Anyways, first week is tricky for everyone. Next you know it'll be a breeze!

I wouldn't advice the cheap ones from hema or kruidvat, they hurt in my eyes =(
But the ones from the 'eye doctor' (
) are fine. And don't rush to get them in, take your time =)

Re: contacts...
I disliked my contacts.
For some reason, I always had issues with them. They started hurting no matter what.
Back to glasses for me.

You don't want the contacts of HEMA, my mother lost her last contact and the optician had to order them. She bought a set at HEMA until she would get new ones from the optician.
I visited her today, and her eyes were all bloodshot. Hurt so much she settled with her glasses instead.
If you want contacts, go see an optician and learn about them. Don't try to be cheap, this is about your eyes. Also, don't keep them in too long, as your eyes are being denied oxygen by the lens itself.

Re: contacts...
Well they work fine for me and they don't hurt at all. The contacts come from the same factory so I think it's all bullshit.

Yeah they may come from the same facture, but there is a difference in quality.

anyone wanna give me tips on how to put them in and take em out?
You'll get used to them quick enough. You should find out what is wrong with your eyes and base your contact decisions on that. If your vision isn't that bad, does your doctor say you can just wear reading glasses? If so, I would recommend you take the glasses and not wear contacts.
I wore glasses for about 8 years before I got contacts, and for constant wear, I love them. I wouldn't want to do any sports with glasses. If you get hit in the face it's a nasty situation.
Definitely take them out every night, and keep them clean. Use eye drops if they dry out on you, or if they start to bother you. It's not as bad with soft lenses, but you can scratch your eyes if you wear disposable lenses for too long, and you can get irritation under your eyelids that look like little bumps. If that happens, it will be neccessary for you to wear glasses until your eyes heal or in really bad cases, permanently. Don't try to stretch too much more wear out of the disposables than is recommended.
Colored lenses aren't that much more expensive (in the US anyway), but the cost of your lenses depends on a couple things. If you have something more than simple short-sightedness the cost scales upward.

I've had had semi-hard ones, was pain in the ass to put them in / take them out, and soon I'll get soft ones...

Re: contacts...
i started wearing contacts 7 years ago. my mom did the same, but stopped soon cuz she just couldn't get used to them. i loved them. the contacts i'm wearing are so comfortable i usually wear them to sleep. i've gone a whole week without taking them out, although i have put drops of solution into my eyes to refresh them.
(yes i know it's bad to not take them out)
now i can put them in and take them out with one hand in less then 5 secs, wewt.

Ya, but that ends pretty quickly actually. It took me a day or two to get used to touching my eyes and putting my contacts in. Just remember to take them out, trust me....
