Sure. But to some, being in the army is plesent.

are you even IN an army? no, salvation army doesn't count

No I'm not. However my application for next year has been accepted. You see... I didn't realise I had to be IN the army to say what I said.

50%+ chance of dieing? serious? It's like oh come here you do this and that for the sake of the al-mighty america or whatever and you just MAY be very LUCKY and happen NOT TO DIE.

Who would pick that job?

No words really, that's just death wish, you have to be either very stupid or very capable. :?

Suicide is not the solution. :x

kthxbai.

You're going to listen to this person to feed you statistics on chance of death for joining the army?

More people have died in car accidents than have died in the army.

To drive on the roads

Think about it.

I find that hard to believe. Maybe if you take a look at absolute numbers then more people will have died in car crashes, but it's more important to look at relative numbers.
I will not believe that the chance of dying in a car crash is higher than dying as a soldier on a mission.

To be in the army, you don't have to be deployed or "in a mission" as you called it.

chances of dying in car crash = 1 in 6500, odds of dying in iraq = 1 in 60000

That's why I was talking about the military jobs with 50%+ chance of dieing, IF whoever posted that was right, it really IS dangerous.

to OP, if you want to know about making the right choices, i would suggest you to talk to people who are in the military but not recruiters (recruiters will sugarcoat everything to get you to sign up cause themselves have a quota to meet)

I really do hope that you realise that war is nothing similar to any war games you've played, you don't respawn if you get shot by some crazy terrorist.

War is not just about fighting, you shoot and you get shot.

Well I asked a similar question awhile ago and people gave a lot of the same responses. But its ok to ask people through but don't let this be your final decision. It's a good idea because they pay for college. They pay good too and u can make a carrer

I think my next plan is to use this job to pay for college, get an associates, and then go into the Air Force as an officer. That would be badass. My dad would have to salute me when we were in uniform.

Everybody's gonna tell you to join, mostly because it's not them making the decision. Make sure you stick with your choice, shit will change your life if you do end up going through with it.

I've spoke to people who are currently serving in the Australian Army. I also went to Amberley Air Show and spoke to some of the pilots and officers there. They suggested the army that the Australian Army is great paying, reliable source of income etc. They said, when they're at base all they do is drink beer :). I don't know whether that is entirely true, though I wouldn't put it past the Australian Army.

My point is, I plan on joining next year. I'm not going into the Air Force blind, I've looked at the possibilities the Army and Air Force opens for me in the future.

If you get a good Det(short for Detachment, or squadron), you'll have fun. My dad's Det does these things called Det Days. Pretty much a day off. The boss says you can participate in the Det Day, which is usually movies and lunch together, or you can come to work in uniform. Needless to say most people choose the lunch and movie.
