USAF in a few weeks. Almost done conditioning for it. Been getting in shape. I figured out the secret to knowing when you're ready for basic here. When you can eat something and work out enough that you don't shit, but you use all the energy from the food, then you're good. That's how basic is. They work you so hard that you don't shit for like two weeks straight because you're using all the food you ingest.

Ah. lol.

Are you going to be a pilot? One day fly a F-22?

No sir. I wear glasses so I can't be a pilot. I want to get into Air Traffic Control. If/when I get out of the Air Force, I can use ATC training to get a civilian job. Then since I had the special training for the job, the salary is huge. Hopefully that's how it goes.

That sucks. I'm unable to be a pilot too, being colour blind and all :( sucks. I wanted to fly F-35 and/or F/A-18 Super Hornet as well as F-111. Pitty :(

Come to think of it...I don't know any pilots. I have a friend who wants to be one, but I don't know any personally. Weird.

I really can't believe why you want to fly in one of those planes.. I find the mask you have to wear already scary enough. xD

Have you ever seen or heard a plane break the sound barrier? It's amazing. We had sonic booms around here all the time.

Untill you are shot and you need to jump out of your plane, then you suddenly realise your parachute has over 9000 holes in it and you will look like a pancake when you hit the ground.

That is the main reason why I don't like to fly in planes myself. :D

It would be worth it to fly a F-22 or a F-35 Lightning II. :)

Well said Snoopy, props to you.

An old school friend of mine has been in the army for nearly 2 years now. I saw him on his break/holiday type thing he gets and he loves it. He has always been into rifles and guns and loves being a rifle man, although his own soldiers accidentally shot at him once, that scared the living shit out of him.

Like snoopy said though its a big commitment, only do it because you really want to. Jobs will come back with time, if thats your motivation go study at university or tafe or something and get student payments to help with money.

Totally off topic but yea...I live close enough to the Kennedy Space Center that we hear the shuttle booms when they come in for landing. It's insanely cool.

Ooh I've seen a shuttle or two land here. It's an amazing sight. Then watching it being flown away by a 747. Amazing.

I'm a jaeger/tracked off-road truck driver. I'm fine with doing my mandatory military service, but I won't be staying in this organization after that. Not my ideal job of choice. Sometimes it seems to me that the army, as a career, attracts people.. that are not always entirely stable.. If you join, pray that your leaders will be of the sane type. There's hardly anything worse than having a real dickhead as your commander.

I'm a pacifist, I don't like the army.

I know that it's necessary to have an army for a lot of countries, but that doesn't change the fact I am against it.

In the end...I don't think I'm going to be joining the Air Force. I got a job around here and I get housing for free. So I dunno. Still weighing my options.

:(. That sucks. I too am considering whether or not I want to join the AF on my first year out of school. I know eventually I'd like to join it.

Yeah.... I should....

It's because I don't want to be stuck in the middle of Australia for a year. That isn't my goal after 12 years of school, on my first year out to be doing that stuff.

Nani?... Then get out there and start realizing you're goals and ambitions as soon and as best as you can. It's all up to you to decide upon you're own future and goals, you will run into some snares here and there but if you're dedicated enough to you're own causes, then you will eventually rise above those same troubles. Those same problems will soon become insignificant because they can no longer latch on to you because you're grown to much. And soon after you won't even notice them anymore. So, If you post about wanting to die, then that makes you commit betrayal on no-one else but yourself.

You're going to listen to this person to feed you statistics on chance of death for joining the army?

More people have died in car accidents than have died in the army.
