War Hero's Dog Murdered

Post by cuchulainn »

Some shitheads in Texas apparently go around shooting people's dogs for fun. They ended up shooting the dog of ex-Navy SEAL who was part of a 4-man team in Afghanistan of which he was the only survivor when they were surrounded and attacked by Taliban forces. Even worse is the letters of the dog's name, Dasy, stood for the names of his fallen comrades.

How is this news? Who gives a shit, I'm more interested in the guy who tied a dog up to the post to die, then called it art, that at least had a purpose.

And he has a fund? WTF?

Oh, pardon my last comment, I am watching glenn beck now, I see how it works.

Pretty sad and disgusting. I don't know how people can kill animals. I would rather kill another human over an animal.

And he has a fund? WTF?

Also, how are there four members in his team, and his dog's name "DASY" stands for their initials? Shouldn't it only have 3 letters? And if he was included, then why isn't there an "M" in there?

Dasy was very special to Marcus, because she served not only as his therapy dog, but her very name was an acronym for the members of his SEAL team who fought and died in Afghanistan -- Danny, Axe, Southern Boy (Marcus) and Yankee

The team he was with only had 4 people, but the chopper that was sent with 16 SEALs to rescue them was shot down and it's not hard to believe he had a friend on there too.

How is this news? They shot the dog of a man who sacrificed a lot for his country (Regardless of whether you supported the war itself, you can't deny this) and was gravely wounded. Not only that, but the dog was a therapy dog trained to help him cope and comfort his PTSD and what he's been through. If you don't think that's not newsworthy at all, then you're almost as farked up as the people who shot the dog.

As for the fund, the money will probably end up going to a charity.

Yeah, I see the name thing now.
And I've decided to break the trend of unquestioning respect for the military members, I once gave them great respect because they are certainly some of the bravest people in the world, their lives are on the line every day, I could never do something like that. But I shouldn't have to give him my unquestioning respect, he doesn't have to fight, he's supporting the war and the deaths of others, he's really a murderer, though not a murderer without reason, he is killing blindly "for his country" though.

But that wasn't my point for it not being news, my point is that this shit happens every day, to all sorts of people, and MUCH worse things happen every day, children are beaten and abused physically and sexually, people are murdered, but now we have to all pay attention to this run of the mill story, just because it happened to a soldier.

That's not news.
& the fund, I dunno, I should read up more about it before I criticize it anymore.

[EDIT:] What the ****? How can you feel sorry for this guy? He's a psycho!
For one, he's a hypocrite, he's like "that's (cold blooded) murder in my book", and yeah, those people you killed, that wasn't murder at all, but this dog, wtf is that shit (btw, I'm not a retard, I realize his life may have been threatened, but surely you get what I'm getting at here).
Second, WHAT THE ****? He was going to SHOOT the driver for Farking killing a dog! How the **** is that justified? That's Farking way worse than the death penalty, that's blindly killing for revenge because of a dog, not corporal punishment for a serial killer or anything.
Shit

So stories of terrible things happening to people who are famous or remarkable for any reason shouldn't be published because it "happens every day"?

Isn't it worth publishing if it raises awareness and gets people motivated to do something about it which will result in helping the normal/unremarkable people that similarly horrible things happen to?

As for your whole little anti-war rant. You can respect the man even if you can't respect or agree with the war and disrespecting one because of your beliefs about the other is naive and shortsighted.

Edit in respone to edit: He would have shot the driver. But he didn't. That's a big, big line which he didn't cross. There's a huge difference between wanting to shoot someone and actually doing it. The guy went through a lot of trauma during his time in the military, show me the person who doesn't get messed up mentally and emotionally by what happened to this guy and I'll show you who the real pyscho is.

Meh, Agree with Rainigul.

Just a dog, doesn't matter if the name represented his friends. This is as shocking as the time that Paris Hilton lost her dog. Oh Noes!!!

Yeah, the things on the real news should only be things relevant to my life, what could be happening to my rights or something. Not these appeals to emotions.

Like I said, it's fine to raise awareness, I mentioned the man who tied the dog to the post, that was actually worth it because it shows people don't give a Farking rats ass until someone pulls something like that, an excellent social commentary, despite the medium.

I never said I disrespected him, I just said he doesn't deserve unquestioning respect. I think he's a brave man, but like I said, there is no need to respect (by respect, I mean more like revere) him.

Yeah, he wanted to do it, and it's not like I wouldn't be pissed either, but the fact is that he was GOING to, he ACTUALLY had a gun, and he SAID he was GOING to go around to the front of the car, and shoot the driver.
Even with mental trauma, I think being away from the conditions of war for some years should be long enough to know when to not kill someone.

Just because one person loses one hand and another person loses their legs doesn't mean the person who lost their legs is in more pain. I'm pretty sure the guy who lost his hand felt just as much pain coming to realize that his hand is now gone as the guy who lost both his legs. If you lose something you really valued, its going to hurt. Thinking otherwise is just an attempt at desensitizing yourself towards the situation.

Good luck to that guy.

Thats is defintely fked up, but unless the fund is a fund to work towards hunting down those who did it, I see it as unneccesarry, cept I guess maybe helping other animals in need of homes or something related to animals.

Anyone that shoots animals for fun should be forced to ingest a gallon of tiny broken shards of glass, have their balls ripped off and burn in the darkest bowels of Satan's asshole. Their punishment is a joke.

Agreed.

How can you shoot something like this? For "fun".

^That's actually Dasy btw

Abusing animals for fun is really messed up. It doesn't matter who the animal belongs to. I hope these two get really fcked up in prison.

Beating someone up who has a remote chance of defending themselves to shooting a helpless puppy is very different though.
