YES
if u want to play at bow, do it only for fun cuz BOW IS USELESS now in sro

Since the alchemy update comes pure ints/hybrids take the most benefits of it, having money and time to farm and put at least +3 STR/INT in all u gear plus crit in shield, and wearking a nice +3 set of armor full ints still have hard time against bladers/glaivers cuz of the stun/kd but since the only good thing in bow is crit the alchemy farked it up
Now pure str Bows cant even kill pure ints anymore, with the slow and weak skills/damage of the bow plus the ice imunity.
So now bowman still level slower than a pure int and now cant even kill they easy like was some day

if bow is useless in lvl 70 cap think of 80,90?
so if u plan making a bow forget it.

Coming from a nuker?

I <3 meh bow and wont give it up. Yeah i might loose quite a few battles, but still IMO its about fun. for me; Bow = fun.

well for lvls 20-40 you can still do decently in pvp, and in pve, bowers pwn. (save for nukers). soooo yeah.

SINCE I DONT EVEN PLAN ON GETTING TO LVL 70 UNTIL NEEXXXT YYYEEEEEAAAR. Wtf do I care if you hate my bow madness skills.

I would also like to point out that i believe that bow is suposed to have the suprise affect; BOO HERE I AM I FOOKING CRIT YOU ASS!

or hunt/thief/cape in groups or as backup, if you know youre character and the + and - of youre weapon figure you can be good with any weapon or build.

yeah thats the other thing, I don't like 1on1 pvp'ing, I like to assist my friends, which is also why im investing in force, therapy and res, it'll help when my [[future]] guildies and i go unique hunting, big-time thiefing, yada yada, you know the drill..

..If i wanted 1v1 pvp i wouldve stuck with my blader.

Do you know what's the meaning of useless? Useless means totally no use.

Who agree bows are totally no use? In terms of war/1V1/Monsters/Strategies?

Bows are meant for smart people who use strategies to their advantage. It is not like pure str glaive who just charge and hit like there is no tomorrow. I believe bow's playing style is compltely different.

Seriously even i nearly got knocked off by a bow user. There is this 1 time a person pked me for the fun of it. He shoot me from behind and it took me about 2 seconds to realise it. And then before i reached him he had pumped me more than 5 hits.

zzzzz...then i died because he is obviously higher lvl than me (But not that much) because my pot cannot keep up

yah, and whiles out thieving today i took on two lvl 20's at and im only lvl 21. I took out a hunter before he even knew what was happening, and i took out the merchant before he could do any major dmg to me. IM ONLY ONE LVL HIGHER!!!! I guess they were lvl 20 anyway, judging by the equips and weapons they had. so yeah. and the horse didn't take too long to take out either. I looted them, res'd them, and went on my way. They came back. I killed them again. Res'd them. went on my way. They came back AGAIN, but by this time, my return scroll was done. so yeah....

....I did have a +1 lvl difference, though my guess is that the merchant was a pure str fire glavie judging by the dmg he was doing to me. Luckily I have lots of medium pots. (and good autopot settings.)

Hmmm i am wondering if the % of getting stun and knockdown can be reduced by the shield protection skill?

If it can be reduced, stun and knockdownn is not much of a threat already

they still stronger then nukers lol...no matter what happens in SRO, a nuker will be the odd man out.

As stated before, archers are not meant to be the spear head of a frontal attack. They are meant to be placed at the back and pick off the weak and finish off the strong. In PvP they might not be able to finish off an oponent but they can hold their own, and if the get a few lucky crits they might even win.

I'm a str bow.

I killed 2 theifs while going hunting. Both of them are 4x.

One was str glavie, one was a nuker.

Of course i popped the glavie one first, then the nuker was gone in an anti-devil + multi.

Probably the only enemy against bows is blade/sword/shiled uers. If you block a strong bow, thats pretty much it=\ .

well this time its coming from bow my bro was ice bow up to 46 he culdnt even kill a 2 lvl loewr nuker who had only wolf thundertbolt and lvl 1 ghost spear and he culdnt win. Thats why bow is rubbish slow at lvling and dont gimme that bow is good in group combat shit cuz i aint bying that bow has the most rubbish aoe skills in sro so id say JM ..... bows up but il bet theirs a secret way of building good hyb bow. since bows about balance.

well master wuld u care to share HOW to play SMART on bow dude bow is the BEST b4 30 cuz nukers cant nuke and glaives soulspear sux like crap and bows are ranged saves u from walkin wit lvl 1 grasswalk once u hit 43 u'll find that theirs no playing in bows it b better if u were fire which doesnt hit low too so u'll get more outa the 10 stacks of arrows u brought.

try crit someone 2 times with a 100% crit on shield

Goddam it stop filling ppls head with useless shit. Yes archers are not the strongest 1v1 minded. But they have range for a reason. Also when getting berserk book3 it gives a great advantage, since it has more dmg than strongbow, and no real delay.

I play on my alps my name is srjackal and im a lvl 53 hybrid archer. int based. So... i still dont understand how you can say a bow sucks.... perhaps int nukers can upgrade there stuff a bit better ya sure but whats to stop the archer from upgrading aswell... I cant kill a pure str blader my lvl i know that so. Although i can beat the brute with tactics... which means i can still kill him but with alot more work... i have roughly 4.3k hp and 5.9k mp at lvl 53 my attack rating is 280 so i get alot of decent crits now... To say that bows suck is almost like saying pure ints suck when they use nukes...

This hole post makes me laugh a nuker telling people that archers suck.. I 1 hit nukers 3 levels higher then me if they dont block with a shield. GG nuker

i dont have any tips for playing smart in pvp, however, in jangan, near east ferry and hohyeosl mountain, theres tons of bushes. And whenever I rob someone I go hide in the bushes. Hunters try chasing me, but as soon as im in the bushes, they are completely lost.

I've outran lvl 4x's and they couldn't catch me as soon as I got in the bushes. I've gotten so many multistar looting from hiding, in those dam bushes. (Im full garm with lvl 2 grasswalk flow.)

Well, as for playing smart pvp wise with bow, alot of lvl 2x's and 3x's cannot handle freeze. Run up behind them, start your anti-devil bow, imbue with ice a few seconds before its fired, use your arrow combo, and they're frozen. Then, by this time, you can restart your anti-devil bow, and this time use fire imbue to max damage.

Of course, freeze isn't a guarantee, as well as them NOT having abnormal status recovery pills isnt a guarantee, but 8 times or so out of 10 I can get them frozen, or at the very least frostbitten. And lvl 2x hunters almost NEVER have those pills, unless they have an alt, and are experienced. or just smart. Other than that, whenever im getting ganked by higher lvl hunters, I just call up some guildies, and there you go.

Bowers are usually made for helping out other people do more damage. theyre pretty much made for 2v1. However, when played correctly, they can do 1v1 just fine. This game is about 60% luck and 40% skill. Don't even say this game doesn't involve any strategy, using my squirrel tactics, I can get away from almost any situation. 5 hunters were chasing me from east ferry to west ferry and back all night last night. Couldn't catch me. Don't even say im a coward. theres no way a lvl 22 is taking on two lvl 4x's and three lvl 2x's. ok? ok. :wink:

you can think of bowers as snipers. When raiding a trade run, have a bunch of bowers hide in the bushes, and on the signal, antidevil/berserker/strongbow all at once... watch the horses/camels fall.

I'm pure str fire archer. Farmed a bunch at lvl 16. I chose not to go Ice because of ice immunity (even though no one on the lower levels is ice immune, i'm thinking towards the lvl 6xs) In 1vs1, I would strong bow, frost nova, when they are frozen, ghost walk back, anti-devil, multi, rinse repeat.

I agree that archers are on the weaker end of the spectrum, and against Glaivers stuns and knockbacks, Bladers knockdowns and blocks, all we have are crits and "____________" (Joymax pleaseeeeeeeeeee fill in the blank):D.

Bottom line, archers are pretty fun, while not rock hard in 1vs1, and doesn't hurt your fingers as much when grinding.

P.S - the Topic should be renamed STR NUKERS = Useless, then you'd be talking with sense =).
