Can I get some community support? I need a new card and I need some people to push me over the edge. With taxes and shipping it comes to $189.62 Canada. The COD WAW is a seller, I already have it on XBOX360 but wouldn't mind it on PC.

hmm, i have heard a lot of people say that the 9 series wasn't that good at all. people are saying the 8800's are still better, still a good deal though for that card i think, but as far as i know, newegg Canada charges $75 shipping...

The card itself isn't bad. The great thing about it is that it's an EVGA card and you can 'step-up' within 90 days to a better card. I bought a 260gtx a while ago and stepped up to a 285 and actually saved 100$~. Even if you aren't interested in that, it's a good card and I guess (dont like the world war thing remade...again) the game is a nice bonus.

Shipping for me was 14 or 19. I called a local store and they have the same exact card for $293.79 CAD and without the free game.

Anyone have any ideas on what else I could get? That card is the max i'd pay, keep in mind that's including shipping, taxes, etc.

Well that's a pretty good deal.. I'd personally go for a GTX or radeon 4850 but they're a little more and with no free game :v

Nope..it applies to any card, but you can only step-up to certain cards. It's also for US & CA and some places in Europe. I'm in Canada and I did it.

The 9800 GTX is a little better obviously but if you were going to get that then might as well get the new PCB that comes with the GTS250 (rebranded 9800 GTX). Though i got a GTX260 that i built last monday, cause after rebate it was actually the same price as the GTS250 but had considerable more power. Also came with WAW, so was a really good deal for it. Course you needed a more solid PSU with some good amperage on the 12v rails. Remember its total watts on the 12v rail divided by 12, thats the amperage on the 12v rail.

Well, the 9800 was the best out of the 9X series, bout the same though compared to the 8800 gt, maybe a lil better but a 8800 is surely a lot cheaper

Believe the 250 needs around 24a on the 12V, with a decent enough wattage, around 450. While the 26 requires one with 36a on the rail and 550w. But if you were going to get a 9800GTX you might as well get the GTS250. Not sure how big your case is but the ~2 inches cut off on the GTS250 might help a bit for you.

I ran some numbers and I would be ok, but cutting it very close and it only has 1 6-pin connector.

NCIX doesn't have any similar cards near the normal price of the card (179). The local place I called here had an EVGA 9800GTX+ for 259,00. I think Newegg charges so much because of duties since their warehouses are in the US? I was reading the information and it talked about duties and stuff.

NCIX's warehouses are in Vancouver, so it's nice being able to pay 9,99 and getting my delivery in 36 hours.

But you're right. The $50 extra in shipping could maybe be put towards a 250 from NCIX.

Tiger direct has a 3,99 shipping for orders over $200 dollars.

I realized the Newegg stuff has tax applied afterwards, which would mean a brokerage fee or some other bullshit involving me finding time to go to the UPS centre.

Tiger direct has the taxes included, and this is SIMILAR in price before the $40 in taxes I would be charged.

skip the 9 series. It's all based on the same GPU of the 8 series. If you want something for high resolutions and the best performance, save your money and get a gtx 200 series card.
