Hacking my own computer?

Post by Tasdik »

Is it possible to hack into the main account on my computer? My dad changed the password and has now forgotten what it was, he's 55 so yeah

Theres a way to do it, but i don't really feel like explaining.

Yeah there's a button to "Reset your password" that I'd need a pre-written disk for or something. Unfortunately we've never made one :banghead:

I'm not using the administrative account. I'm on a standered user account. So I can't do really anything.

I've been doing some searching and this is what my computer says I need to do "If you don't have a password reset disk or another administrator account, you won't be able to reset the password. If there are no other user accounts on the computer, you won't be able to log on to Windows. In this case, you will need to re-install Windows."

Fck...how the hell do I do that? And what are the consequences?

I got it into the safe mode but I can't figure out how to "bypass" that administrative password.
This is on Vista btw.

This is the quickest way. l0phtcrack used to work, don't know if it works on Vista though. Hooray for Linux!

Behh...vista doesn't have the admin account option, your gonna have to use a 3rd pt registry editor or an application that can retrieve it like the one in fug_dups post

tip: if you recover the account remove password on it and make your dad a standard account

I have it on a CD but I have absoltuly no clue what to do now = p. It says
"Just put it into the CD-ROM drive, reboot and it will try to find a
Windows partition, extract its SAM and start auditing"
So what? I just restart and let it sit there for a while? :? And then what?

"Once you get the CD burned, put the disk in your drive and boot from the disk. You may have to change the boot order so you can boot from the CD."

"Make sure you set your BIOS to boot from the CD drive. You can change your boot order by accessing the boot menu with F10 before the OS loads."
