Drinking law.
Drinking law.
What are y'alls thoughts on the drinking age law?
Like in America you have to be 21 to legally drink alcohol.

My opinion is that it's completely fine with me, the drinking law being 21. It's to protect people and it makes sense. I'm 18 and I don't drink besides maybe some wine at family parties, but not much, and then I don't go driving with my friends or do stupid things.

The LPO at the place I used to work said
"You don't drink vodka/whisky/rum/gin/etc. because you'll get too drunk off of it."
"You don't drink beer because you'll get too much yeast in your system"
"You drink wine *forgot the reason, but it was better than the other 2*"

1. Too drunk it you drink too much. Drink in moderation, you can get tipsy and it's fine. I rather getting drunk off it though.
2. Beer is fine, often leaves you with a hangover though, bigger hangover than Vodka etc.
3. Wine just tastes like shit.

So true.
I personally would like there to be no age requirement to drink alcohol.
Unrealistic due to the utter chaos it'd cause for the first 10-15 years it was removed. But it'd be better in the long run.
Most European countries don't have a drinking law. And their doing fine.
The problem is that here in America young kids think that drinking alcohol makes them "cool". So they sneak it and totally abuse it since alcohol is like the "Forbidden fruit" for them since their not supposed to drink it.
Where as in European countries kids grow up with people drinking alcohol. To them it's the everyday norm to see someone drinking a beer so they don't grow up thinking that drinking beer makes them bad boys *girls*.

Actually the truth of the matter is that any underage person can find a way to obtain alcohol.

True. I used to be friends with a guy who'd steal beer from Kroger.

I either get my parents to buy it for me, or I walk in there myself. If they ask for ID I say I don't have it with me, worst they can do is reject me, or let me in.

Re: Drinking law.
As Snoopy said, 18 over here.
Doesnt really matter though, it's more about how stupid you have to be to get caught.
Drinking since 14 is natural.
Never been caught.
Wine gives the worst hangovers.

Same is here. Except no one cares if you start drinking at 8 either, no one to get you caught.

Yay for Belgium.
Beer and wine > 16 years old.
Anything stronger like whisky and rum is 18.
Oh and quite a few people drink before the age of 16 though.

in stores and normal cafes they don't ask for it
but when you go to the big discos you have to be 16, for some even 18
but once you're in you can just buy whisky and other strong drinks...

Re: Drinking law.
18 years in my country, but 90% of the people start drinking with 14 or 15 years, so it doesn't matter, most of the stores allow us to buy alcohol and I don't see a problem with it as long as the police doesn't catch us:D
Re: Drinking law.
Lets just say I had no clue, I asked my mom; she had no clue, asked 3 other people; they had no clue. I had to look it up online, and I found out its 18. But not even cops follow that in my native country. >_>. (Dominican Republic)

Don't know any European country that doesn't have a drinking law.
In Holland you have to be 16 to drink, 18 to drive and smoke weed.
