For the simple fact that with DSL, you have your own personal incoming line, on which the signal resides.
With cable you share a line with other people near you. So when they all log on, your internet gets slower. Not by a lot, but it's there.
Hm, I can easily see what you're saying. I'd love to get DSL because now I'm cluttered with wires and crap but I have to wait a bit because of xbox issues and some games that I need to pick up. I'm hoping the ethernet cable will solve the xbox live issue, since it will be getting direct instead of the adapter.
But everyone's replies were really helpful, thanks guys =)
My xbox live experience has gone from shit, wireless DSL to decent wired DSL to omfg sexxxxxxx cable back then to decent wireless DSL.
From my experiences, the cable was the best option for Xbox Live. On the shit, wireless DSL and the decent wireless DSL, I can't host a game to save my life. So don't go wireless. That's my only tip to you.

You mean don't use the xbox adapter? I had more lag and less bars with the adapter then with the cord. I hope the ethernet cord from the router to the xbox will fix it >_<

I mean I have a wireless gaming router which connects to my xbox. And then connects wirelessly to my router upstairs. It's terrible and I cry.
Yes, a line directly from the router to the xbox will be the best option imo.

Hmm thanks, hope it works, once I get my cord I'm gonna renew my xbox live, so that's why I haven't been on =x
