Halo Wars? was it win or fail?

Post by BlackFox898 »

I haven't played it myself but it is an RTS on the 360... has anyone played it? is it good? was it a stupid idea to release a f*cking RTS for a console only?

well if you say so, but honestly why the hell would they NOT release a PC version, there is no logic in making it 360 only in my opinion as PC's are better made for RTS's, and especially since this was partly produced my Microsoft, which is a giant in the PC world, duh!

I really like it. Its really easy to navigate and manage everything.

The only thing about it which is annoying.. online is all about rushing.

tey couldn't make it for pc. it was ensemble studios' final job. as soon as they were to finish it they would disband. so they couldn't waste time on multiplatform. they just wanted to try sometihng new I guess.

It worked extremely well on the 360, but in the end I thought it just didn't feel right.

I might have something to do with Halo being for Xbox first pc later? It might come on the pc who knows (some other company will make the port then though).

Wondering the same thing. The controls are specially made for the game so it's not ported. It works great.

this isnt a pc game dnt expect the array of control which a pc rts will give you they made it simple for reasons such as the limitations and the target audiance been of a younger age, all in all this is the first GOOD rts on a console and trust me i hate console rts but the ones i hate are all ports

but thats why it would be considered a fail becuz a good RTS would have controls optimized and the whole spectrum of options, missing these makes a bad RTS. I kind of reminded me of like a flash game cuz everything does seem so dumbed down. I played it, havent beatin it but i can give it a 5/10 i guess but I'm pretty sure a lot of RTS fans expected more from such a prestige game title.... of course im open to debate here so support why i may be wrong

your just flaming for the sake of it now

the controls are optimized, and it offers a large variety of control just not as much as a pc, its a simpler game then c&c but also its a hell of a lot more complicated then a flash game, the AI is good enough to survive without constant orders, the system in which you build and upgrade works perfect with the console platform, not saying its a 10/10 but it has earned atleast 7/10

and as i said im a true RTS fan so until i properly played it disagreed with it, but you oblivously have not played for long or just tried the demo which only demonstrates a few things

There is a big difference between this RTS and a PC RTS. This RTS is build for console from the ground up. Whereas most other RTS are built for PC and then ported to the consoles. I don't think this game would feel right on the PC, it lacks depth for that to happen imo.

Been playing DOW2 like a drug addict, then i went to my friends house and tried Halo Wars.

In my opinion it was a Fail, at least comparing it to PC RTS standards.

i <3 it. h8 that every1 rushes online as well, but sometimes u get into a situation where no1 does that and every1 just beefs up their army for like 10-15mins. i play 2v2 a lot with a friend. sometimes we warthog rush with forge and sometimes 1 we beef up grizzlies or hawks.

only played one 3v3 so far and we all went unsc but different leaders. each of us had our leaders super unit pumped to maximum population. then my allies charged with their hawks and grizzlies, and as they did that i dropped a bunch of odst's in and fired mac blasts at bases.

comparing a rts on the console to any on the pc is a fail within itself.

I don't think you should compare it w/PC standards considering it's Xbox 360 only.

Rushin is a core essence of RTS. Afterall the battle begins the first second of the game, rushing and economy harrasing your enemy will cripple your enemy (Provided he lost more resources then you) then you'll win for sure.

what he said

you need to look at it this way while pc can povide a more advance rts this is the first true console only rts which makes the most of the xbox it is not the same as a pc its far different in how its controlled as you aint got keys for one.

compared to other console rts ports this is something epic, im not comparing against pc as on pc this game would fail badly

big surprise, it's a "console only rts!?" QQ in this thread. didn't see that coming..
don't like it don't play it. bitching about it isn't going to get it ported nor is it going to change anyone's opinions about the game.

Well the whole point of the thread was sort of to get others opinions on the game....

I haven't tried it yet, I hope to soon when my stepbrother comes over for the weekend with his 360
