To be fair he didn't say it'd be broken up in a year, he said he believes we will enter civil war in a year. It's possible he believes the country will be so shaken by the conflict that other allied nations will end up governing what remains.

Russia knows they need us for trade. Some people may still be hung up on the Cold War but we can't just assume Russia wants the US to collapse. The wall has been down for almost 20 years now. Do we want Russia to collapse? No, what would that possibly do for us? It's pretty much the same thing on their end.
