It changed because you opened it with notepad and the check box marked [always open with this program from now on] was checked..so I'm guessing try to open it again with notepad but this time uncheck it and see if that works. Really have no idea though =\

.dll's don't open with any specific program and now that you've chosen one it's stuck with it. There's probably a way to change it..just have no idea at the moment.

Go to your start menu and choose run (or press the windows key and the 'R' key together).

Type 'regedit' and press Enter.

In the left panel, select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Some further folders appear in the tree below.

Select SOFTWARE. Some further folders appear in the tree below.

Select CLASSES. Some further folders appear in the tree below. These will all be file extensions (e.g: .txt, .mp3, .dll :) ).

Right-click on .dll and choose delete. This will prevent it from opening in notepad and, should you double-click it again, the trusty "Open With" dialog box will pop up once more.

Hmm... I'd put it this way:

delete only if you KNOW it IS a virus.

If your computer tells you that you have missing .dll files, many of them are available from .dll libraries online. Just do a google search for the file it mentions and you'll probably find out what it is, and whether you need it.
