Games that make you pay extra for items in-game are the future of gaming. Even though the game is free, they make huge amounts of cash with that system.
That is so true. I have spent about 130$ on silkroad..

If you toss into the equation the amount of time spent playing SRO without prems, grab pets, reverse returns scrolls etc then SRO might have cost them way more than the people that actually bought silk. Because that time spent playing without mall items couldav been used for a real job.

Really? It is those who spend more silk spend more time playing, which results in them wasting more money since that time can be used for a real job. Those who buy more silk are generally more addicted, and so they would be spending more time on the game. It is just that those who spend less silk would be lower level/weaker.

Questmaster wrote:BuDo - You're quite right. I thought I can play this game without silk, so I simply got on, doing grunt work, picking up quest items. It turns out I spend more time seraching for this items(the dead monster's body does not disappear right away. I got to pressing the space bar a lot of times just to pick up gold and items during my first levels. I got a looter when it has gotten too boring picking up stuff all the time, instead of killing mobs, and finishing quests.
I bring along SRO in Flash disks, because I am not at one place all the time. In many places, SRO is not installed. I have to install it myself in order to play, because most of my free time is spent outside my home. If I have time to play, an Internet Cafe is the nearest. I bring two, because... well - what if one happened to get damaged?
XMoshe - yup. I played at Internet Cafes in the Philippines(Where I got introduced to SRO). I played at Cairo. I usually play now at Abu Dhabi or Dubai(damn, the PC rates per hour are expensive - around 2US$ per hour for the Cafes with faster PCs). I call 'em because there are times when I get my hands on two PCs, and I can PLVL myself. I then would need some help - as in - borrowing their Characters. You are right about the Video Card thing,though... That was stupid. Well - I just thought of it as a gift afterwards... On the Computer.. I do not have time to play now, due to work. I get to play on weekends, but time is limited. I like the game though, and the Specs of the computer I bought was geared towards gaming with SRO in mind. I plan to get Starcraft 2 when it comes out. That is, at least, how I envision relaxing on my Vacation Leave(from work - around three months). Of course I will also be doing other things. (But I'll still be on vend mode). On the Internet Connection - I used to piggyback on the Internet connection of someone else for email and ordinary surfing. It was slow. I am now subscribing because of SRO.
On the times spent on Playing Computer Games - If I include all the times I spent in Playing them since 1986 --- Damn... I could have finished not just an MBA, but maybe a PhD as well. I do not regret it though. It's my recreation, and who wouldn't want to do some relaxing time?

Thats where we disagree. Some of the postings here shows players playing since 06, and without ever purchasing silk(The ones that don't have others buying them silk anyways). If anyone been playing SRO for such a long time and without silk to buy grab pets, experience scrolls, reverse return scrolls ect (things that speeds up lvling) then it is a much bigger addiction because it requires a lot more time to level. People who tend to buy silk regularly are more likely to reach the caps, get bored and them quit.

lol thats some new logic. The fact that you'd shell out $2000 for a game that will be meaningless in a few years shows that you are addicted. And plus, time is money so spending all your time on SRO buying silk or not, your just letting all the sand spill through your fingers.

eaglehawk wrote:i'd say $US 4000 for 4 accounts over 3 years, its not much if you compare to what kuwait players even spend on only one account, it prolly would only be $2000 if i ever bothered to use curst hearts but i dont like wasting sp.. i cant imagine losing 80k sp after grinding 400k sp time making sp is something $$ cannot buy, if only there was 8 pt ong power farming at 60 cap
