Nvidia 9800 GTX +, is it compatible?

Post by rck shx pike »

Motherboard: Asus P5VD2-VM SE
Intergrated Graphics
Intel Core 2 Duo E6550
2GB RAM

Is the Nvidia 9800 GTX+ compatible with my computer? I can't really tell. If not are there any other graphics cards that can do 1280x1024 resolution very well.

The motherboard box says PCI Express x16 and PSU is 450W.

hmm, well X16 and 2.0 are pretty much the same, should work, the specifications say it would need a 450w psu minimum so i think your in the clear. good luck!

What would be the best resolution for the 9800 gtx+? I read somewhere that 22 inch would be the best resolution for it.

22 inch isn't a resolution.
On my 22 inch monitor, with my ATi 4870 video card (a little better than the 9800gtx+), I play silkroad at resolution 1280x1024.
It's more personal preference though, a higher or lower resolution may look better to you. I play battle field 2142 at 1600x1200.
450w power supply isn't very powerful - It will probably run that card.. but if you have the money you should go for 700+.

my 22" monitors native resolution is 1680x1050 (16:10), in the nVidia control panel there should be a section where it says your screen native res. and mousetrap, i think 700watt is a little too high, nice to have but better rails are more important then watts, srsly my friend run vista 64bit, 9600GSOx2 in SLI, 8gb ram, etc rich kid stuff >.> on a 650w. but yeah i guess you might wanna look into a better PSU.

Would a 550W or 600W power supply be good enough for the 9800 GTX+?

And I said 22" as resolution because I couldn't remember the native resolution of a 22" screen.
