Wolf = Tank?

Post by curvekiller »

I have had a wizard before i started my new character (look sig).
I bought a wolf and wanted to use it to tank giants for me. In partys it worked almost every time when there are multiple players attacking one mob. But when i'm soloing and let my wolf attack the mobs first, then go berzerk and cast firebolt, the mobs goes for me! How can I make sure the giant will attack my wolf all the time?

Well, that's my question. Thx for good replies in advance :)

Well... The only way is to hit less than your wolf... Or let your wolf attack the Giant for a long time then you attack it...

But why does e.g. a party giant attack the wolves if a whole party is hitting on it!? the party will sure do more damage!

the moment your damage outdo your wolf, the mob will turn to u instead of your wolf.
so its impossible for a wolf to do a tank against giants

My general strategies against a giant as a wiz:

Wiz/Bard: Get your wolf to attack the giant until the giant has 2/3 HP left ( use pet portion if necessary ). Then attack the giant. When its hp is near 1/3, fear it. If it works, nuke it till death. If fear does not work, then giant will turn towards you when its HP is less than 1/3. Erect an earth barrier, and continue nuking. Prioritize the Earth and ice nuke so as to dul/freeze it ( be careful if there is any monster around ). Use vigors when necessary. It should go down very quickly and its relatively safe ( so long as the big thing do not crit ).

Wiz/Cleric: Bless spell, then nuke it to death. Cycle yourself if needed. This is too easy.

Wiz/Lock: Do like wiz/bard if you do not have your lock side farmed. If yes, then turn to lock, debuff, dull, DOT, nuke it. HP leech now and then. It should be easy.

If PT Giant, then run. You could tank it with cleric or warlock skills, but its not worth the time, effort and risk.

Aggro levels for Euros are different from Chinese. Casters receive the most aggro out of the 3 classes, even if they're dealing the lowest damage. However, Warriors do have skills that establish more aggro on themselves while tanking for parties.
