Therefore; 5 = 5

You can also say that:

1 = 5
5 = 1
So:
1 = 5 = 5 - 1 = 4
Or
5 = 1 = -5 + 1 = -4......

There are so many ways to change the answer.. But, I'm positive that 1=5 is the answer.

if you are so positive that 1=5 in math then there are too many answer possible

5=1+4 => 5=6+625
5=2+3 => 5=25+125
5=1+1+1+1+1 => ...
5=1+2+1+1 => ...
etc...

wow you read too much into it, its simply a matter of timesing the previous number by the current to get the next 5x5 = 25 and 5x25=125 etc, quit going too far into it, you answer the question they give you and they phrased it quite simply, if in this problem 1=5 accept that, they didnt ask you to evaulate why thats wrong, if you have a problem with that change the value to abcd etc its stil the same question with the same answer
