My oldest brother works for the Seattle Times.

And I say no. The government should never had bailed out anyone in the first place. But since we're already on this slippery slope how long until we draw a line? *one that never should've been crossed might I add*

Newspapers are becoming/are a thing of the past. Their importance will continue to diminish as the world becomes more advanced with each passing year.

Newspapers fail when people don't buy them. It reflects on the nation as a whole and it's not something to be proud of. Just the way it is in North America concerning how much people know about global issues and their interest in what could be called "World Culture" is embarassing and is dragging us down.

true. i have never touched a newspaper in years..i get all my news online now or from the television. Imo..they should start increasing their online articles and maybe set up subcriptions that way. either way the # of ppl reading actual newspapers will keep going down.

No is what i say.

Remember the "whatever" million dollar bail out for the banks?

that was straight up bull shit and Bush Farking did it anywayz.

He literately threw those hard earned tax money from us, the tax payers, into the drain.

Why do we, have to pay for company that fails.

those banks deserve to be failed, giving off stupid loans.

and one thing to be safe from monopolized businesses, we need big companies to fail, and smaller companies can and will fill in their space.

You could also say that it's the fault of Americans by not being disciplined and not taking enough time into finding out whether or not they would be able to pay back their loans. But then again, we never blame ourselves.

The "whatever" million dollar bailout? Wasn't it in excess of 900 billion dollars?

I read the local newspaper, which covers both local, national, and international news. I will read an article on the internet if it interests me or grabs my attention, and I watch the news each night.

That's just me though. Yes, the # of newspapers sold in on a an obvious decline.

Everything is either George Bush or Global warming's fault.
We need to start accepting personal responsibility for our own actions.

Am not shocked this is happening to American news papers, in a country where people
are more concerned with what breakfast stars are eating and what new shoes they
are wearing does this really shock anyone?

Now if it happened in a European country then i would be shocked.

It isn't just Americans who like to know what superstars are wearing, eating, doing. Any, and most developed countries do.

IMO they should banish newspapers in their entirety. Much more info to be found on the internet, and it's cheaper.

What about those of us that don't get stupid loans? I have very few loans because I know the ones I have right now I can afford, and if I were to get more, I wouldn't be able to afford them. Don't lump the country into one whole.

I said "We" because people accept criticism better if it's not just pointed at them.
I understand where your coming from. You are one of the people taking personal responsibility for his own actions. And I applaud that.
Now if we could just get some other people to quit waiting for the government to come and bail them out we'd be much better. Not saying everyone does this. But there's a few who do.

I understand that, and when I meet a person who has a sob story about something like that, I have no respect for them at all. It is NOT hard to manage money, this whole economic crisis is because of dumbasses + government. Hopefully the democrats can fix this whole problem.

lol, well thing about America is that it doesnt have the same heritage or history
of Europe or a past history of Monarchs. And as such they divert all this attention
onto "stars". Americans dont have a royalty and as such look towards Hollywood and
gossip magazines and tv shows for a fix.

Having Celebrities is creating modern history. Elvis Presley, everyone knows him, he's a part of Rock and Roll history. It doesn't have to be thousands of years old to be history. America is writing history, which right now may not be considered ancient history, give it a few thousand years and it will...

Stereotyping yet again. Next person that thinks that every American is the same, should have his face bashed in by a shovel.

lol they had to give the banks the bailout, it was our government that FORCED the banks to give out crap loans to irresponsable ppl who dont even have a job and are on unemployment. its no wonder why america is in a shithole economy right now. everyone sits around and collects unemployment instead of getting a dam job. this nation is becoming lazy, and socialistic(free health care for everyone yay!!) everyone wants free goverment handouts but less taxes, wtf? we are in what a several trillion dollar dept? if this was any other country but america the un would step in and take over.

We should just stick to local newspapers.
