i would upgrade the sos to +3 , and use some rerols for block . you find those tabs sooner or later anyway's and if you get a higher blockrate you can sell it for a better price to ^^
I'll try upping the BR on the SOS but it can stay at +1. I have an sos blade that cost me 2.6m to get from +1 to +2 so I've given up on elixirs until I hit 8th Degree items.
but shield elixirs cost about 1/8th the price of a weapon elixir, so upping shields is not really expensive. And you find shield elixirs anyway, so if you have some you might just go for it^^
But hey, still your decision...

Getting a shield to +3 really isnt that tough. You could easily get a shield to +3 with the same amount it would cost for 1 weapon elixir. Just sell the extra elixirs off if you get it to +3.
As far as alchemy goes, definitely try to up the blockrate. It can only stay the same or get better, so no reason not to attempt it a couple of times.
Tried upping the BR and got no where apart from blowing 1.68m on tabs and elements (I'm basing this on the price I could sell the elements, not what they cost me).
1. 14-14
2. 14-14
3. Failed
4. 14-14
Seeing as it took me 11 weapon elixirs to get my blade to +2, I can't see much point in trying to get the shield to +3, even though shield elixirs only cost 30-35k. I'd probably just end up breaking the shield.
I'm only lvl 31 and, from my point of view, I've blown a fortune on alchemy already! Unless I stumble across a pile of 50m gold I think I'll just quit alchemy until I'm on 8th degree items.
