Rogue + Bard/Cleric (read first please...)

Post by Mefra »

Hey guys, right now I'm a 49 Rogue/Cleric with only xbow yet. Now, I rarely use my Cleric skills in pve. Also, in CTF it only saved me a couple of times, but not as much as I expected.

This made me think if Bard wouldn't be better. Cause once you've come out of stealth, there's no way around it, you're gonna die (assuming you always use CE or DD), unless you planned it carefully. But with carefull planning you won't use the Cleric either. I agree that Cleric is better for pvp outside the gates, but I don't give a rats ass about that. How about job wars, ctf, fortress war.

1 Last question. Will Cleric save your ass quite a lot more often with Daggers of only a small amount more.

Please, if you give answers, back them up. So don't just say "Bard" or "Cleric".

This is more of a question actually, since you have the experience of what would have been a build of my character. Can a cleric not buff himself up, before changing to rogue? or would the buffs be lost when you change weapon? (buffs of a warrior are lost when you change to xbow).

I hope you wouldn't mind me for asking a question in response to a question, but you seem to be the only one with this build. I wanted this build before, though...

The misconception about cleric is that it helps you tank, this is not really true since you need to spam heal yourself to survive, even when you have bless active you still lose almost 1/2 of your defence with DD and you still die in 1 nuke or a few absolute attacks with CE active.
Cleric has absolute attacks, but so does bard, even though they are weaker they also dmg your opponents mana, which could be useful against STR warlocks or STR clerics. Bard also has a bind skill which has a longer range and faster cast time then a clerics does.
All in all I would say that bard > cleric, cleric is great in cape pvp sure, but when your grinding or jobbing then bard is probably the better sub class IMO.

About your answer JKMB, you're giving me the same reasons I already thought. Thank you for your answer. I find Cleric a bit dissapointing for my playing style. Don't get me wrong, it's a great sub, but it requires a different playing style that I'd like to play as a rogue.0

Allright, on to the the question questmaster asked. Some Cleric buffs do stay. The best buff for a rogue is Recovery Division, that one stays (and I'll miss that one for sure), bless and holy word. Healing cycle also stays, but I don't find much use for it, because it only heals (but a lot!) 16 seconds, but to switch weapon and turn DD oro CE on already takes a few seconds.
If you like Cleric as a sub, just take it. You'll die a few times less and it's easier to take on parties and giants. If you don't mind the slow speed (or are rich enough to buy scrolls) you'll never regret the Cleric sub. As for myself, I really can't live without the speed ;-)0

Allright, now one last question. Does anyone knows how much it will cost me to delevel my lvl 48 cleric sub? --> Recovery Division, Bless, Holy Word, STR/INT increase and the phy/mag def. buffs?

Thanks for the info, friends. The question was more or less directed to the fact that I have a low level Character that I have developed as a Bard/Cleric, intending this to be a support Character later on. I have seen the damage a Battle Bard Can do, in so much as it actually is like a Rogue (Kamikaze Character) - You do a Do-and-Die Attack, just to kill a character that is making mincemeat out of your party mates. I thought Cleric would be a nice sub... but I have to have advice first. Thanks for the words, friends.

Do you use xbow for pvp or daggers?
With daggers I would go for cleric, since your enemy can easily do some damage to you.
and with xbow I would go bard, the enemy cant really come close to you (KD,KB,...) and if they come close you can always run away with your moving march =p

+1

That's absolutely correct in my opinion.

Hmm...So now I've got a bit of a problem....I'd like a Rogue/Bard, but deleveling costs me way too much...
