Privacy?
Does privacy really exist in our society anymore? The average person is caught on spy cameras about 300x a day, satellites can view your home, IP addresses and tracking cookies sent to your pc and so many other ways our privacy is being threatened. What do you all think?

I honestly don't mind. I'm not doing anything wrong. Why should I care if I get caught on camera?

Why the hell do you care about privacy?
Average American teenage male. Goes to school. Has a family. Lives in a suburb. Give one good reason why the government would waste its resources spying on you.
Its the fcking American government. It has the resources, it has the manpower, it has the technology - but they'll only use it with justifiable reason. Its not some communist dictatorship that will invade your privacy for no reason at all...

Please remember that the world does not only talk about America. And besides, your wrong. My father was accused of being a "terrorist" and we later found out they had been spying on my family for about 2 months before they confront him. He was charged with supposed secret evidence, but luckily they dropped the charges. Another person I know was accused of being the one who bombed the twin towers the first time (not 9/11). Even after they convicted the real person who did it, my father's friend is still being held in Guantanamo bay. So before you start saying they won't invade your privacy and your life for no reason at all, open your eyes to the world around you.

They probably had good enough reason. The CIA isn't going to go around marking every Arab thats living in the US. You know the country's better than that.
Your fear of invasion of privacy is based solely on personal experience. Simply because those around you are being accused/detained does not mean that the rest of the US population is going through a background check.
But in the first place, why would you be afraid? You have nothing to hide, don't you? I have never broken the law - let the government search me all they want.

Oh wow. You put to much faith in your government, sir. BTW [iirc] USA Patriot Act gives the gov't the power to invades one privacy for no reason at all and without a warrant. Now why would the government need to do that?

t0rch's theory on privacy: The only people concerned about privacy violations have something they want hidden, or are doing something they shouldn't.

How many times do I have to repeat myself, Barotix? I have nothing to hide. I am not a terrorist. I am not involved in organized crime. Let the government have such powers. Why do average Americans like you and me have to worry about the CIA searching our homes? You have nothing to hide, don't you Barotix? If the US government can catch one more terrorist, prevent one more disaster, I think I would gladly give up my "privacy" for that.
Its the American government. If I can't place my faith in it, who can I a trust? You can endlessly debate, question, and argue the sincerity and integrity of any government. You might as well go live on some old cay by yourself if governments intimidate you that much.
Anarchists disgust me.

Re: Privacy?
yea seriously, who the ..... cares if the gov't knows who u email everyday, jesus. it's not like they're gonna broadcast it to the world and humiliate you cuz they just happen to have a personal agenda against ONLY YOU.

Re: Privacy?
Know what's funny?
I ordered parts for my AK47 last month and they're still back ordered. The site sent me an email saying they have been swamped with orders since the election.
I don't give a shit if they watch me, I've done nothing worth watching. Once someone comes knocking on my door saying I need to give them my weapons, then we'll have some problems.

It has nothing to do with hiding. It's about private property rights and the constitution. It's not just the CIA that has been given broader powers under USA Patriot Act. I see you would give up a little liberty for a little security and gladly lose both. Good on ya mate. "If I can't place my faith in it who can I trust." You can trust yourself, friends, and families but leaving your affairs open to a group of strangers sounds somewhat odd. Please; don't assume I'm intimidated by the Nation-State. Intimidation has nothing to do with my distrust of our civil servants. A true patriot pays close attention to the actions of his government 'less he find himself without a shirt.
Please, don't call me an Anarchist. Libertarian ideology may seem like Anarchy at first glance, but you sir would be wrong once again. I am against coercion and the use of force. Obviously I'm not for chaos, but I'm not for coercive monopolies either.
Are Libertarians Anarchist?
Spoiler!
Libertarian Myths and Truths.
Spoiler!
The next time you feel like calling me a socialist bite your ton- err fingers.
Edit: One does not need reason to be suspicious of the ability to throw another in prison indefinitely and without trial for dissent; not terrorism, not illegal drug trafficking, not gang violence, but for dissent. How is that not a problem.
I hope your response won't be: "Well then don't dissent. If you don't dissent it shouldn't effect you."
Spoiler!

12 gauge and my unnamed rifle should be enough here.
I know a gun dealer or two and yes indeed they are swamped with orders for assault rifles...
