Is wearing armor over garment (for a full str) reasonable?
Hi folks, ive been around for a while, but never posted anything. This probably is like my first post or something xD
Well, right to the point - i am a full str fire blader and i use a nice 3rd degree garment, all pieces with +str and all together +22 str. I am 25 now and it is time to start changing degrees. Unfortunately, there isnt a lot of 4th degree garment pieces with +str in Olympus, so, in order to evolve, i would have to lose some str bonus =[ But, 4th degree armor is abundant, and it wouldnt be hard to find some nifty +str ones.
But then, i was wondering, what is more suitable for my little full str character? Armor or Garment ?
Thanks to all of you in advance!
ps.: i have 102% str balance and around 38% magical balance

If you're that concerned on what you need to wear then I suggest you wear protector. 10% speed increase, 10% mp reduction, and decent str and int defense.
EDIT: Also usually cheaper and easier to find when compared to garment and armor.

I have been going garment until level 49. I just switched now because I hardly do PvP and I dont intend on fighting magical monsters. However in case of I have a garment set in my storage that I can take out incase of.
I switched to armor because I am fighting mugijis and ugijis now and I will keep grinding them for another 3 levels until I get to level 52 when I have my super glavie and will farm at penons.

Back in Venus and Babel!
hmmm.. i have a completely different opinion. i am pure str/ice bow - i wear garment and probably will never switch. I like my speed bonus, and i like the magic reduction. as for physical redux - who cares??? you have WAY more hp then you need for mobs your lvl so whats the point? all it does is slow down your run speed and maybe save you 22 hp per hit..
if a mujigi is hitting me for 250hp and i have over 6k does it really matter?

I use garment, for several reasons:
1. It looks pimped at 5 dgree on up
2. Speed increace
3. Magicle defence it has helps alot in pvp and with magicle monsters.
4. Full str I have alot of hp and my defence is good cause of my str and buff's, so not really worth having armour THAT much to use it.
Protector? Well, I guess it's not that bad, magicle defence and physicle defence isn't that bad, but I would still prefer garment cause of the larger magicle defence and faster movement.

Pretty much eveything's been mentioned already, but for the most part, it is good for pure STR characters to wear garment. Not only becuase of the increased magical Def and MP conservation (which are both incredibly nice), but also the speed boost, which is actually in my opinion the most valuable thing that garment has to offer. Being a pure STR, you are not going to 1-hit anything at your level, and most people preferr to grind at least 1 or 2 levels above themselves. In this case, us pure STRs tend to level slower than pure INTs, and since we don't have ranged attacks that can take things out in 1 or 2 hits like nukers (or bows), we are forced to run from one mob to the next. Therefore, the speed increase will help significantly in leveling. If you are a hardcore grinder, you WILL need the speed boost.
Of course, that is not to say that people who wear armor or protector can't grind effectively or that they are putting themselves at a huge disadantage. Over 90% of mobs in game are physical attack based, so garment doesn't do much for you unless you are PVPing. A comparison would be when I was at lvl 43, my friend had about 200 less per hit damage done to him because he was wearing armor and not garment.
On the issue of Protectors: it is nice to have a little bit of both worlds, but if you are not a hybid and already going Pure something on your stat points, wouldn't it make more sense to just go pure something on your clothing too? Sure is is nice, but I feel that protector is just kind of an inbetweener that doesn't really let the user feel the benifits unless they are a hybrid of some sort.
In the end, it all comes down to your personal playing style. I know people who wear clothing based purely on whether they think it looks cool. I wear garment because it compliments my playing style, but I also happen to think it looks awesome.

really? because I see pure ints all the time. For some reason, every time i step in hotan i see about a million spears everywhere. I don't think pure int nukers like to 1v1 very much because they will get owned pretty quick, but in a party, they can be extremely valuable. When I say pvp, I mean in any instance that you go up against a fellow player, that would include trade runs, guild wars, etc. And most of the time in these situations, there will be at least several nukers around.

This might be due to the fact that there are quite a few int based hybrids nowadays. For a lot of them a spear is the weapon of choice. So if you see someone with a spear it could be a pure int or a int based hybrid. There are some pure str characters also who use a spear instead of a glaive because of the high crit that can be found on a spear.
Legit all the way.
