How much bandwidth does silkroad use?
I heard my ISP is planning to implement a 5gig cap but they aren't sure yet so I was wondering how much bandwidth silkroad would use in a month if you had it on 24/7 and also if they had a 5gig cap there is no way I would stay with them...does silkroad run ok on satellite internet?

Max In: 80 kB/s Average In: 50 kB/s
Max Out: 210.0 kB/s Average Out: 100 kB/s
this is for CS, but same thing since you are connecting to a server and sending and receiving data.

40-50 hours for 5 gig limit
and anyway thats 2-3 days which isnt bad as a limit

Re: How much bandwidth does silkroad use?
That seemed much too high, since I have heard people playing silkroad on a dial up modem! Also, my connection can dip below 30kb/s down and 15-20kb/s up and I can still play SRO fine.
I just tested it with Bitmeter II, and it says when using just silkroad online, i used about:
218 bytes down a second
145 bytes up a second.
(I had it run two minutes while I frolicked about killing things and running about. it worked out to
33.14kb down
17.71kb up
Thats total, not per second,
.)
That doesn't seem like enough, but the meter seems to be working fine. Surfing about on this site for one minute causes it to to register...
2.68MB down
130kB up
If my figures are right*, you can play silkroad online on a 5gig cap 24/7 for about... 5 or 6 days, lol. Or considerably less if you do anything else online!
*The probably aren't, hahah.

Here you go:
24h silkroad download/upload stats: 14.5Mb download 3Mb upload.
So it's under 20mb/day
Using Netlimiter2pro to collect statistic and speed monitoring.
But if you get 5Gb cap just change isp.

Be straight be proud of it, don't end up like them:

With those figures, you'd have about 20mb/day * 30 days = 600mb/month with 24x7 SRO play. Seems like 5Gb/month bandwidth would be plenty.

Not necessarily the same just because you are connecting to a server and sending/receiving data. It would depend on the kinds of data you're sending/receiving. Specifically for SRO, it seems it would also depend on how you're playing. If you're in a 24x7 guild war with 150 members, that's a lot more data than if you're just afk stalling in a remote part of town that no one runs through.
Missing the good times in SRO...
SRO:

19, INT spear (Venice)
34, STR rogue/bard (Venus)

8x, INT bard/cleric (Gaia)
