Many countries have had their turn to shine.
Greece
Italy
Britain
Japan
USA
(I'm sure there are others also)
Just because you are no longer the worlds strongest country, does not mean the world will suffer.
I think you took my comment too literally:
Since most foreign exchange is made using US currency, the fall of US will bring the world into temporary turmoil, at least economic wise, countries will probably find a way to claim a piece of the collapse government. I'm not saying other will suffer, I never mention that, I am saying the world will go through a major change if US were to collapse, between changes there's always a buffer period, and from history, that buffer period had always been bad times for everybody. And most likely it will lead to war,and nobody likes war, especially everyone have nukes now.
US's way of policing other countries in my opinion is their tactic to ensure that everyone is still under their influence, by no means I agree with their action, but if you think about it they never really "won" any wars comparing to other countries. They never got into WWII until later when the tides turn towards the allies, they definitely did not win desert storm nor Vietnam. However US as a country is still young, they rise to the top by their rapid development, which also have its downfall.
