Yep. They were, and still are very popular in Ex-Yu/Serbia. Not my favourite though.
Also, my first idea was to put the focal and effects around it in B/W, and to put a very colorful, overcontrasted BG in the white space. Didn't turn out well, so had to go with this plain version.
Also, what do you mean by basics? And what should be improved?
