Wii Or Xbox 360
I have not seen this thread yet, though I've seen an Xbox 360 vs PS3 thread.
Anyways, I would like one of these for christmas, but I can't decide which, try to be as non-biased as possible, for I'm sure my nintendo fanboyness is diluding my decision.
Anyways, I don't care about graphics, though I would like to say some of nintendo's shit is pissing me off, like the mii crap, what the hell? That could have been badass, you could have like drawn your face and had badass graphics, but instead they have this cartoon bullcrap. I mean, it's ok, but there should be an option to draw stuff yourself as well. But then I guess people'd make dick faces and stuff, but whatever.
Anyways, reasons for getting both:
Wii has Metroid Prime 3! Holy shit! Basicly the only reason I want it. It also has Super Smash Bros Brawl, which would be cool to have, and I'm sure that some other games don't suck ass either, like Zelda, but that's not my top priority right now.
Xbox 360 has Gears of War, which is a freaking awesome game, but not as amazing as Metroid. It also has Halo, but the last game is gay. I know it has some more hardcore games as well, but you have to pay for online gameplay, and for most gamers that's not a problem, but I don't want to continue to pay for a console after I've bought it.
So, try to be objective, which is best? List pros and cons for both, and then a final decision. Thanks.

Re: Wii Or Xbox 360
I'm not gonna list pros and cons, too lazy. My cousin has a Wii, but I still recommend the Xbox 360. It has GoW2, L4D, and H3! Wii has SSBB and you have to give props to it for that. That game is simply great and amazing. Just depends on you. The 360 has pay for online play and the Wii has free online play.

What's L4D? Left 4 dead? lol
Also, did you read what I wrote? I don't care for H3, however, gears of war is badass. They do sell it for the PC though I might just get that (GoW2 isn't out for pc yet, but it'll be out someday). And Wii has Metroid Prime 3 which is a HUGE factor for me, it's my favorite series of all time.

Wii sucks. I own one. Get a 360. You won't be stuck with crap like Wii Music, Wii Fit, Wii Play, Wii Suck etc.

I own both, the Wii is collecting dust. I only bought Wii for Brawl.
Get a 360, better games and much more you could do with it.

This is a stupid thread...of course the 360 will win it has better graphics, but saying
that the Wii still has a lot of good games. it has MUCH better platform games and MUCH
better FPS games.

Re: Wii Or Xbox 360
I like both, guess I'm still a little boy deep inside ^_^
Wii got fun games like mario/zelda/wii sports etc etc and the 360 has GoW2/Halo3/Mirror's Edge/UT3 etc etc..
So it's really up to you, what do you like to play? Shooters or more like platformers? Do you want to fight with Nintendo characters or go for big breasted babes in DoA4 or for all the other shit (including Yoda :O ) in SCIV?
About the online...It's 60 euro's for a year which isn't really much IMO

No it doesn't. You think Wii FPSs are better than games like Gears of War 2, Halo 3, and Call of Duty 4? Don't kid yourself. Not only do the FPS games look bad on the Wii, they also control horrible. There have only been 2 decent FPSs on the Wii and those are CoD:WaW and Medal of Honor.
Besides Mario and Zelda, the Wii is a waste of money.... unless you're a person that enjoys glorified tech demos.

Its clear from this comment you have never played a Wii before...because HANDS DOWN
the controllers on the Wii FPS are much better the any other console...what havent
you played MP3 or RE:UC ? to let you know all those reviews saying Wii games have
bad controls on gamespot and IGN are a joke, you can tell they dont bother with Wii
games but kiss ass of any 360 game.
also "glofified tech demos" lol wow you really havent played a Wii game before have
you? also for your information MoH has mediocre FPS controls

Satman, idiot, ur comment implies that Wii has better fps games, instead of controls.. U refrained from mentioning controls entirely.

I do own the Wii and most of the games are garbage.
MP3 isn't a FPS, its an FPA(First Person Adventure.)
RE:UC sucks. Of course its going to control well. All you have to do is point and shoot. No one wants to play an ON RAILS FPS on a console. Its the year 2008.
The Wii controls are a joke. The best controls I've experienced on the Wii was from The Godfather: Blackhand Edition. The controls are suppose to be the best thing about the system yet thats where most of the games fail.
What do you call Wii Sports, Wii Play, Wii Music, etc? Glorified tech demos.
MoH 2 controlled well on the Wii. Even if you didn't like it, you could practically customize the aiming to whatever you felt comfortable with. Not only that, it's one of the few FPSs on the Wii that allows you to play online.

I bought the Wii just for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and it was worth it.

1. You'd need a very good pc to run it all
2. Alot of games will indeed come out for the pc in the end but that will take another year or even longer.
So just forget about the pc for now

Re: Wii Or Xbox 360
I own a Wii and I can easily say get a 360. The 360 simply has much more good games than the Wii has in nearly every genre and the few good Wii games will probably not be enough to justify spending 250 bucks on the console. One of the few reasons I haven't sold mine yet is due to Barlw and for Tatsunoko vs Capcom but other than that I hardly play my Wii unless I have friends over.
As for Barlw specifically, although I own it and it pretty much has justified my purchase of the Wii I could easily live without a Wii and still play Barlw due to most of my friends that play Barlw competitively have a Wii with Barlw. For practicing there's not really that much to practice by yourself since Barlw isn't nearly as complex as Melee was and most character specific things can be learned simply by playing other people.
If you want to play a Wii game that does interest you, like Metroid Prime 3, just take these steps:
1. Find a friend who has a Wii and ask to borrow it. This shouldn't be hard since, if they had the wii for at least a few months, they are most likely not even playing it.
2. Rent or borrow the game you want to play.
3. Play the game
4. Return the game + the Wii to your friend.
You can use this method to play the very few good games on the wii and not have to shell out 250+ bucks for a system that will most likely collect dust after a few months.

That's really good advice, and a really good post, and it seems you're the only one who read my post for you're the only one who specifically mentioned Metroid Prime 3, lol (although I think satman mentioned it, that was for his arguement that wii fps' are better)
I only have one friend with a wii though, the others have ps3, xbox 360, or nothing
I'm thinking about just doing 360 for now, I love metroid with all my heart, but I can just get the wii later, and I don't think it's going to be replaced with a new console for a long time, because nintendo only ever comes out with necessary consoles (excluding gameboys),
NES: Original
SNES: Way better graphics, better controls, more controls
N64: 3D graphics, better controls, analogue stick
GC: Probably most useless one actually, only thing it brought was different controls and better graphics
Wii: Radically different controls and better graphics
Yup, so anyways, I'm leaning towards 360 now, though I'm still up for changing minds. What are good 360 games? So far I got GoW which is freaking badass, that's about it though. Though pretty much All xbox games are good as long as they aren't something like Hello Kitty Toaster Adventures.

The thing about xbox is not that it has exclusives, but that other than nintendo, there aren't really any good exclusives for other consoles (except for maybe MGS). You should be able to pick up a used copy of bioshock for really cheap, GTA IV is always a good choice, I loved ace combat 6 with the joystick and throttle, Farcry 2 is great if you're into sandbox, Fallout 3 is good if you're looking for an rpg, and a sport game is a good addition to any collection (nba live, nhl, madden).
If you head out to gamestop/eb games you should also be able to pick up some decent used games for $10-15 - splinter cell games, forza 2, and other single player games are worth the small amount of money.

Re: Wii Or Xbox 360
Wii has some VERY good games...i know people love to bush Nintendo about being a kids
console but its telling when Sonys biggest game this year is a "kiddy" game 'little
big planet'. (which is off topic but i feel it relates to the above post).
so lets see whats good out on the Wii shall we.
Super Mario Galaxies (Best platform game EVER, its saying a lot but anyone who says
its not is talking out of their ass and will be hard pressed to find another one).
Mario Kart Wii (best driving game of this gen, also brilliant multiplayer and bi-weekly
competitions)
No More Heroes (action packed crazy as hell game from the makers of Killer 7, one
of the best action games out this year.)
Super Smash Bros Brawl (best beat em up on this gen and had brilliant multiplayer)
de Blob Crazy platformer which is quite shockingly fun
Metroid Prime 3 (final in the Metroid "prime" series and it goes out in a bang with
the biggest, baddest and most metroid-tastic adventure yet...brilliant)
Now these are just some of the good Wii games...ignoring those people here like
Da_Realest who even though hates the Wii with all they have love to bash it at
every opportunity. The Wii is a good console...its not a fade and its not a gimick
2 and a half years of top sales have shown this and given how both Sony and Microsoft
are incorporating Wii original ideas into their consoles it shows its not a fade
or a wannabe.
But as for grahpics no its NEVER going to beat the 360 so comparing it with 360
grahpics is retarded, it proves nothing at all. Its not trying to compete with the
360 or the PS3, Nintendo know this and are doing their own thing, the Wii is JUST
like any other console, it has its share of good games and its share of bad games.
But it does offer games some fun games and a unique and fun way of playing them,
yes sometimes it works brilliantly and other times it doesnt.
But if your going to go for graphics>gameplay rather then comparing gameplay>
gameplay then just pick the 360.

Re: Wii Or Xbox 360
@satman83 I bash the Wii because its not a console for gamers. Its only a good console if you're a casual and/or Nintendo fanboy. All of the games you listed are decent(Except Mario kart. Its garbage. Pure luck-fest.) but getting a 360 gives you much more options.
...Fallout 3, Gears of War 2, Fable 2, Mirrors Edge, Bayonetta, TC:End War, Ninja Gaiden 2, Far Cry 2, and Resident Evil 5 just to name a few. Not to mention great online gaming, voice chat, downloadable content, and many other features. Have fun voting on random polls on your Wii...
Also satman83, it seems you know nothing about the competition because LBK isn't a "kiddy" game.
Thats why there is no competition between the Wii and the 360 if you're a gamer. Unless you absolutely have to have a first party game on the Wii, your money is best spent elsewhere.

dude you called Mario Kark garbage luck fest...wow no offence but you ever played
a Mario Kart game apart from the Wii one? either way calling that game garbage, i just
take what ever you say and deem it to mean nothing at all....a zero as you have no
idea what you are talking about.

Re: Wii Or Xbox 360

a Mario Kart game apart from the Wii one? either way calling that game garbage, i just

I've played the game. It is a luck fest. If you don't believe me, go read some reviews. But of course, you're going to say they're biased. Either way, they nerfed powersliding so now that casual retards can do it as well. Also, its entirely possible that you are in 1st place ahead by 3 or 4 seconds and some crap happens where you get hit by a blue and/or red shell, AND get ink or you screen so you can barely see, AND get hit by a pow block, AND struck by lightning, AND get ran over or bumped out the way when you finally get on track. After all this, you can pretty much prepare to come in last place. All of this has never happened to me at one time when I was in first place but at least 3 of those occurred everytime I was winning a race on the last lap causing me to lose. You can toss the whole best driving game thing out the window. I'll easily take Forza 2 and Burnout Revenge(both availiable on the 360) or even Excite Truck over Mario Kart Wii.
I love this quote from a Mario Kart Wii Review.
The current state of combat caused me to gnash my teeth a bit more than before because it seems like with every new game, the opportunity to actually win becomes less and less about skill and more about luck. I recall one race in which on the final lap I was hit by a red shell, a blue shell, a lightning bolt, and a POW block, all one after another, dropping me from first to last with less than a quarter of a lap to go. Of course I finished 12th, got zero points, and dropped out of medal contention. If I hadn't had the Wii Wheel tethered to my wrist, the whole thing would have gone right out the window, with the game disc and possibly the Wii itself not far behind. The unpredictable "anybody can win at any time" vibe that permeates the game is nothing short of infuriating and something that I pray in vain to be rectified with every new Mario Kart that comes out. This game goes completely in the opposite direction, causing nearly all 100cc and 150cc races (and even some 50cc ones as well) to turn into a lottery on wheels, thus rendering skill moot and throwing the whole thing into chaos.
Does this sound like fun? I don't think so. The only way you can assume this is fun is if you love the luck fest(casual gamer), are a Nintendo fanboy, or you don't have any better racing games to play.
Mario Kart Wii is the worse in the Mario Kart series with MK 64 being the best.
