Maybe it's just me, but the last thing most people have on their mind during a crisis is "shanking" minorities or majorities. Prime example: Katrina. Have you ever asked yourself what causes racism? Since you cite a case of extreme racism here's another example: The confederate army. From the beginning of the war to the end of the war Blacks and Whites served in the confederate army. They received equal pay and served together(mixed, not segregated).

I am speaking of the ones that served voluntarily in the armed forces as soldiers. If you want to include the ones that willingly and unwillingly tagged along with their master then do so. It does not change the original statement. When compared to the Union army the Confederate Army doesn't seem like that bad of a choice. After all, Jefferson Davis' wife adopted a black boy as her son. Abraham Lincoln on the other hand was a typical white supremacist. We just have to be thankful he signed the emancipation proclamation. I would be more than willing to continue this conversation using the PM function.

Well, as mentioned earlier, GM/Ford did have a failed business plan BUT they recently have altered that plan, also it was too late. If the government bails them out, I do have reason to believe that this kind of crisis would not happen again.

Also that article has a real valid point, but then again, AT&T or Abercrombie hasn't been around for 80+ years and is not as deeply rooted into American past/culture as GM.

You won't learn of such things in school. The ideological views of the republican party, the same views as the former whig party, are those of 19th century white supremacist. You are aware Abraham Lincoln's original plan was mass deportation of the African Negro. I don't understand why you take offense to this. I could care less what government approved text books have to say about historical figures; they, the text, skim over issues, and attempt to avoid debate; the text also have a bad habit of fibbing. Are you to expect me to take the same text that claims Jackson expanded the powers of the president seriously? The same text that hails Hamilton and adorns FDR with undeserved titles? The pubic school system is the last place one would hear of this. Would it make you feel better if I referred to his policies as bigoted, nationalistic, and fascist instead of calling it like it is.
