I've decided that Lime wire sucks so I have a few questions about torrents.
1. What are the Cons of torrents
2. what are the Pros of torrents.
3. Is it illegal?
4. Why are torrents better than other softwares?
5. If I turn off the computer by accident what happens to the torrents?
6. Anything else I need to know?

1. Takes a long time, but depends on the file. Are you trying to download mp3s?
Might be corrupt and therefore not work when you've finished downloading (very frustrating)
2. I download mostly movies, so the pros of the torrent in that nature would be that I would be able to see any movie (that has been released in the past 30 years) I want for free. You can also get free games and cracks for it, as well as free music, but imo I would continue using Limewire (or Frostwire) for music and leave anything heavy to torrents.
3. Yes, it is illegal to download anything without paying for it.
4. I don't understand why it would be better than anything else and what do you mean by other softwares? Its free - that makes it better than some things.
5. The torrents will be stopped automatically and once you turn your computer back on and uTorrent up and running again, seeding will resume.
6. No. Its very easy to use uTorrent and gain access to almost any movie and most games and pretty much any song.

torrents can get you the latest movies/music/books/etc. downloaded within a short amount of time as long as others are downloading and more importantly seeding.

leechers: people downloading the file and thus take away from your download speed
seeders: people sharing file after downloading it and thus increase your download speed.

always check to see if a file has decent seeders or not. the more seeders the faster your download.

in terms of legality, dont worry. you can't get caught unless you go around advertising where to get the torrents and your personal info is on teh internetz.
otherwise, only the websites who provide the torrents have to worry about it.

Don't even bother. Just phone up your ISP .. People who supply you internet ( Not your parents ) before you ask .. and cancel your internet.

2. sometimes seeders can be hard to find IF its a old torrent

5. the torrents your were downloading are automatically saved each time it downloads a peace of it. so u can turn off cpu anytime and torrent is still saved.

It's not illegal if you download for own personal use. Well atleast as far as I know and you won't get caught trust me. I know shitloads of ppl that have downloaded over 100GB per month including me and we've never been caught or gotten a warning...

You can get caught if they ever do a tracker, but out of TBs i only got caught once. Then got the fun little message from my ISP in the mail...

2. what are the Pros of torrents. fast speed, the more ppl download, the faster you download
3. Is it illegal? depends on what you dl, child porn? yes. gay porn? no
4. Why are torrents better than other softwares? traditionally, it is 1 server streaming to different mofos, so the more the mofos like you download, the slow it gets. w/ torrents, each mofo acts like a server and uploads to other mofos, giving crazy ass speed.
5. If I turn off the computer by accident what happens to the torrents? your download/upload session gets interupted, it will be resumed when you go back online
6. Anything else I need to know? port forwarding, basically, its pinpointing others right to a certain port so other mofos can connect to you. but if you will be wondering between wireless service provider, i'd suggest you turn off portforwarding

Well there was another letter, talking about. Wasn't really the ISP that did it but the DCMA or w/e. Far as i know, with this they can just force my ISP to disconnect me from the net. I cant risk that really since well, its cable or dial up where im at. Basically a slap on the wrist, honestly don't want to push my luck.

Yeah you guys are noobs, Kazaa is the best P2P program, and I still use it. Its probably the safest and most reliable P2P program out there unlike limewire that gives you spyware and viruses and shit, AND songs that only make like static/white noise

Just google for Grabit already. It's the best there is(imo) and your dl speed will always be at approx 400kbps+(depending on your internet speed).

Correct. Though it takes me a while usually to clean out my target folder. So it's more my own behaviour i'm scared off.

Private torrent sites gives ya more speed and u can find what ever u want.As4me i use rapidshare and i downloaded nearly 3000 movies,tv series and documentaries from it.Legal or illegal i dont care cuz i go to cinema dont buy dvd.I wanna watch all good movies and do not have enough money to buy them so i download them why should i pay if its free?

If you want your hard-drive full of viruses and other shit and your bamk account stolen I succest that you keep using limewire or kazaa. But if you want allmost always fast dl and good quality stuff I succest using torrent.

Good torrent software is µtorrent (doesn't require so much power from computer) and as a torrent site there are lots of different sites like pirate bay, mininova etc.
