Just out of interest, what are they going to do when they find what makes up protons? What will it achieve and do and things?

Personally, I think when they complete it, reality will dissolve and a sign will come up saying "Level 2"

Well if the quark/whatever chainreaction pops in, we will never now what could be explored coz all what will remain from Earth is a large area of exotic particles in a belt around the Sun.

Because of this was the LHC's build postponed.
Just one tiny mistake. + or - and we all desintegrate in no time:D

well it would probably lay the foundation for particle physics ("Star trek").
in terms of changing everything we know, i hardly doubt it but its still possible.
would be interesting to see the conflict between the religious and science when and if they find the Higgs boson particle.

I believe that the one on the 21's was the test run. or it could have been the second low power launch. But I'm pretty sure they haven't done it at its maximum potential yet.

if you knew your facts, you would know that the top scientists of CERN stated that it is practically impossible for a black hole to be made.
Lets say that you're right and it is formed, you wouldn't even be there to realize what happened. it would all happen so fast (a millionth of a second or something similar to that). so no point.

The LHC is on a Winter shutdown starting this month, because there was some faulty electrical connection and damaged magnets, or w/e.

The LHC will be back in operation on Spring 2009.
