North Africa was mostly populated by people that had mixed heritage between Middle Eastern and African Negro.

How do you define "blacks?" If you're referring to the ancestors of most current African-Americans, they would be mostly west Africans. If you know geography, Egypt is not in west Africa. That's not to say that Egyptians aren't black though. I mean Cairo is a pretty hot place with a lot of sun from what I hear --- surely the inhabitants would develop a somewhat high melanin (spelling?) level over time? Unless you're suggesting that Europeans (who hadn't actually built a powerful civilization yet) swam across the Mediterranean to Egypt and built the pyramids?

Not saying that either race is superior. Just saying I think that either you're defining black differently (and in my opinion, incorrectly) or your views are historically off.

I've enjoyed reading this thread and totally agree with the statement, "Race is some made up BS".

That's not to say that our concepts are not deeply ingrained. Even Barotix (who is decidedly not racist) mentioned Semites. The word refers to Shem, one of the three sons of Noah. Yeah, the concepts surrounding "Race" and resultant bigotries goes back into ancient history. There is absolutely no evidence that "Ham" (another son of Noah) was the father of the peoples of Africa.

Many orthodox Jews, Islams and Christians believe that the Bible attempted to define 3 races with the story of sons of Noah and their wives being the progenitors of the "Northern Peoples (Shem), "Southern Peoples (Ham), and "Western Peoples (Japeth). The concept of "race" is NEVER addressed in the bible. Family traits are simply that, nothing more. Concepts of race have been, are, and will probably continue to be, 100% advanced by ignorance. Those who speak of "races" are acknowledging their belief in a worldwide flood.

To continue the biblical story, language was also "mixed" at the time of the "Tower of Babel". Personally, I adhere to the biblical accounts and consider them true BUT the conjecture and conclusions that many make because of their misunderstanding is absurd.

To blame Christians for the actions of the ignorant may be justified, but I wanted to try to set the record straight and state the obvious. Ignorance is not contained by any single grouping, however artificial that grouping is.

The bible delineates the descendants of Noah in order to establish and trace God's prophetic blessing to the seed of the woman (Eve). The Messiah would come from the seed of Shem. There is absolutely nothing racial mentioned there.

The first generation of descendants is given as:

* The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech and Tiras.
* The sons of Ham: Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.
* The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud and Aram.

Abram came from Shem and the prophetic blessing flowed through him to the seed of Jacob (his grandson). The names of the three sons have specific meanings. Although "Ham" means "warm" in Hebrew the coincidence stops there. "Japeth" means "open" and "Shem" merely means "name" or "renown".
