I got Windows XP Prof too but that doesnt matter. Crashes on all OS i think

I keep getting ??? error also, i did everything, that people have tell here to do, but it just didn't help.

I had this error for like 4 days, got online for 2 days and now it came again..

I figured it out, the whole ????? crashes. I dont get it much while fighting, but I do allot and I mean allot while having a stall open. So I started to keep track of when I get the crash. And wouldnt you know, it crashes when I walk away from the PC.

So...... the only logical explination is this.

This game is designed for them to spy on you and to simply anoy you with the crash. They watch you through your webcam and as soon as you get up and walk away from the keyboard, they send the kill signal. And instead of giving a good error discription, they give you a bunch of question marks, just to get alittle more under your skin....yeah...yeah thats it.

But on a serious note, mine always crashes when I have a stall open. I can fight for hours and have no problems. I can wounder around and shop in town for hours. But when I log in for the first time of the day and open a stall right away, Blamo, it crashes maybe 20 minutes into it. Oh and when I log back in and reopen my stall, it crashes again in about 20 seconds. Sometimes I dont even get that much time. SO mine seems to be stall related.

Come to think of it... yups - I usually get the "???" error whenever I vend

Hmm, can fight mobs all day long but when I start vending... Hmm, something to do with all the images on the screen? *scratches head* (since towns will have more images (number of people, stalls, msgs, etc) on your screen compared to when your killing mobs)

The ???? error seems to effect multiple players simultaneously if they are in the same area.

Both my wife and I play together. While eating dinner we had stall up in town but in different parts of it. She could see my stall from hers. I got the ???? error and she didn't. When I got the error she looked at her screen and everyone that had been in the area that I was when I got the error were also gone.

Seriously though, it doesn't happen only when stalling. Yesterday I was at scorpions and the error came up 5 times in 1/2hr.

Is it just me or the error is becoming more frequent?

I was free from it for quite a while, but its popping up again now. Whatever we do it wont help. Unlike joymax stated, I think it’s they’re problem. There’s nothing wrong with our driver or w/e.

Something interesting to note is that this error did not start occuring until several months after the release of the game. Just thought it would be nice to know for anybody who is attempting to diagnose the problem.

Yeah, same for me. But I got another problem.
I don't see no exe files in my silkroad folder.....
Unless I'm stupid and PK2 or DES or dll files are exe...

I don't know. All I know is it never happened to me till I started hanging out around Dongwhaun(however you spell it.)

EDIT:
Okay I tried reinstalling the game, downloaded the directx and gfx card things from silkroads website and downloaded latest SP and now just nothing happens when I start the game. Just like does the nprotect thing and then nothing happens. And when I try to run it again it says that silkroad is already executed.

EDIT2:
Got it working. Actually "exited" the firewall instead of allowing silkroad. So I guess if I wouldnt had the firewall on, then just updating to SP2 and updating the directx and gfx card drivers did the trick.

official site mentioned this... n said the solution to it is to update your graphic card driver which I did ...... and I'm getting even more errors then usual (several times a day compared to several times a week)

hmm btw tht ???? can be read properly if you have the chinese language installed... thts if if u can read chinese ..... and even if u can, thts if if you're versed with technical computer terms in chinese

basically, there's an error with the hardware or sumthin.. so it shows u ur pc specs then ask u wherther u wanna debug it or not

the left side button is the yes send the debug thingy... the right side is cancel ???

clicking both does nothing apparenly lmao ... and I don't think this info helps ... but if you're interested to know wats annoying you... :roll:

Ok : i've noticed two things about that ???? error.

1) When i get it, usualy im not alone : i mean that when i re-log i can see that many people are also re-logging and then i ask : Got the ???? error ?
And they say yes. So it seems to be a part of the map that crashes. I already saw half of downhang completly empty ; you could easily see the
''crash line'' between the now empty half and the other one.

2) I almost NEVER get the error if i'm NOT running MSN messenger at the
same time as SRO

Anyways, hope Joymax fixes it soon

Well like Calmwind said it's most likely a coding error which would make a lot more sense considering it happens to different people under different circumstances.

The other day I was fighting Mangyangs (that quest to expand inventory) and I was goin good for about 5 minutes, then I attacked a Mangyang, killed it, crashed. There was nobody near me and there weren't many Mangyang's around so I don't think it was a graphical error.

All the settings are on low, I had it windowed, and the sound was off. But I had at least 5 other programs running in the background. So I'm starting to think Calmwind is right about that coding error.. if you still crash try only running SRO and nothing else.

Well i've heard enough of this, it's about time the makers/admin fixed the problem.

My whole guild and I all pay money for this game etc and get cut off all the time with the ????????? error!

The problem needs to be FIXED ASAP. Maybe we should all start a strike and no one pay a cent or play the damn game... :banghead:

Yeah these errors are really affecting my grinding.. especially since I can never get on during the day so whatever grinding time I have is automatically shot because of these errors.

yeh i get this problem too and unfortunately that solution with the exe files doesnt work for me either. been d/c 4 times tonight, lucky i was grinding passive mobs and imbued on every d/c so i killed the mob i was attacking

I sometimes get dc as soon as I log in, or at least 3 times within a few hours. My computer is fine, didnt use to happen, but happens more frequently now. really annoying

You don't have to spend any money on the game, since it's free. It' your own decision, if this game was p2p, it would have no lag, no problems in getting in and no errors. But since this game is free, and Joymax got kSRO, jSRO and tSRO they don't care a lot about iSRO. Since tSRO is p2p and they have no problems there for sure. kSRO - koreans play as crazy and give much more money away, then anyone other, so they care more about better play for them.

But to get less ??? errors, i think you need 1GB RAM or more. And protection programs of course. I played Silkroad in USA and in Europe, BiH. In USA on a slower connection i had NO LAG at all, and got the problem once in 5 days. In BiH, my home country, on a faster connection i have EXTREME LAG and get d/c and the ??? error a lot fo times. So it could depend on your internet connection (i mean the power of your internet provider, not speed of your connection). You will get less lag (much less) on a dial up connection in USA, then a high speed connection in a country where the internet provider is shit.

There are alot of opinions and stuff about the ????? Crash in SRO. Though it is obvious that SRO's servers are always MAXed FULL and have alot of server traffic.

Conclusions:
- Joymax sets a program to randomly disconnect some players off servers to have enough space for others to logon.
- Server traffic is so tough to break through so SRO CLient goes HEYWIRE and disconnects you with the ????? Message.
- A unfixed disconnection bug, Joymax as no knowledge of fixing.

Anyone agree?

1. No, i don't belive they will "kick" random players from the server, since they want ppl to play. And if they get d/c a lot they won't play anymore.
2. Yea, that a more possible explanation of the ??? error.
3. The most logical and has the most chances to be true in my opinion.

Could the problem be server related? I used to play on Troy and i switched to Aege and im suffering a lot more with the ???? on Aege than i did on Troy. Do any of the newer servers suffer with this problem as frequently?

This is by no means an all conclusive statement however, I an a beta tester for several software companies and have been furnnished with a 3rd party debugger. It seems every time I get the ????? error my crash log refferences a memory addy. I also run dual video cards and noticed that on occassion the exe is searching the memory on the secondary card but is only useing the "1st" card. When it sees the memory empty boom flat on its face it falls. Also I've noticed that if I reboot, defrag my memoery and then start SRO I get more time between ??? errors. All of this happens with staggering inconsistancy though so it's hard to pinpoint an exact cause.

I have read sooo many different forums, and nobody seems to have a perfect salution... I think it might just be something to live with until they fix it. Although the theory about Sro randomly dc'ing people sounds true (although i dont think it is...), becouse before i got dc'd like all the time! And now its been 2 weeks since (i have not changed ANY settings at all...)
