Why is ice so under-rated?

Also, when Yarkan comes out, everyone will love the few ice bladers that are around to tank him.

man exactly its assholes like you who say ice is useless, in what way is ice useless, everyone says that oh ye i am gonna be immune to cie wen i hit lvl cap, AND YES I HAVE MAXED OUT SHIELD BOOK 4 AND IT DOESNT GIVE MY 78% REDUCE I ONLY GOT 78 STATUS EFFECT REDUCE! AND ALSO HAS EQUIPPED MY ACC WITH 25% FREEZE AND FROSTBITE REDUCE ALTOGETHER!!!!!!!, ok i maybe wrong witht he PVP thing but i call it GW and job wars since most ppl see PVP as a cape duel, and i use ice because i dnt like using fire its so boring, ice actually looks cool and has a useful effect. Maybe weak but the fire buffs shud make it strong enough for me.

Klaus all forces are gud, they all have pros and cons, just depends on ur style of play, none of the forces are useless, i bet wen ur in job war or GW u would like a few ice users in theresince they become very helpful maybe not for 1 on 1 but definately good for group fights.

Hmm I'm thinking of making a nuker with:
90 fire
90 light
90 cold
30 heuksel

This build would have 30 heuksel less (500hp or something), but would have: extra aoe nuke, more phy defense to compensate for 500hp, better wall (compared to fire absorbs phy attack more instead of magic)... and not to forget cold just looks kewl

What do you think

this whole thread is getting stupid, is it not?

if you're fighting someone who's immune to ice, then yes, it's useless. if you're not, then it's very useful.

is there REALLY anything else more that needs to be said about it? i left the board for like three months, and before i left, there were threads just like this one that always ended up turning into flame wars. why am i not surprised to see that it hasn't changed at all?

It took maybe 10 tablets for me to get 35% immune. It's not hard and the tablets drop pretty often.

well as i've said before regarding ice

pro - you do well/annoy incomplete builds.

con - you're hopeless against complete builds.

while not everyone is complete, why would you want a build that is inherently gimped and can only fight against players who haven't achieved ice immunity yet? further more, when lvl cap is raised, everybody above lvl 70 will be ice immune. that means you won't be able to do anything against someone lvl 70-80. I don't know about you, but i have having a character with no future unpleasant

well, im ice since i started my char. that was a way before i knew that ice owned in pvp (before the new stuff).
im full str, i have all the phy dmg fire skills
this far noone could prove it to me that the fire imbue alone would make me do *that* much more dmg
im happy with ice.
i dont say ice is the best ect. but excpet a bit of dmg i dont see any other pros for pvp in the other imbues.
(i could be wrong here! i never tested it myself, so i could really be wrong)

also, in pve i benefit a lot from ice

so what i want to say is
nobody should take ice, cos someone said its great
nobody should drop ice, cos someone said ice is teh suck

Yeah in the end, you should decide for yourself. From what I've seen, it seems like for pure str, book 4 fire maybe adds like 400-500 dmg on soul spear soul hits and book 4 ice is like 150-250. I could be wrong though, it could have just been coincidence.

some would argue sacrificing that 200-300 dmg so that you freeze incomplete builds (which there are a lot of atm) is a worthwhile tradeoff. Personally I'd argue against this and would rather ensure that my character can do well against any kind of build rather than focus on incomplete ones.

Point A: Fire shield is an absolute reduction, not a % WRONG

Point B: ice is not useless CORRECT

Ice is great for PVE and especially for uniques. The ice users are going to be extremely valuable for killing yarkan. They prolly won't get the kills, but they'll make it easier for someone else to.

i have de lvled it cz it didnt give me 78% at maxed out book4, so please sum1 who have done tests tell me b4 i lvl it up agen.

ice can be useful, though the imbue has become a lot less useful the defense buffs are still very nice for certain builds, IMO they can help a nuker a ton in a sticky situation. Fire shield IS indeed a %, as i have seen other people test it and have tried it out myself. Its just that fire does a ton of dmg, light has speed and parry buffs and its got mag bonus and good nukes. Ice has good phys defence buffs at lvl 6x, but it doesnt have the freezing/frostbiting threat as much anymore. So, most people choose fire/light if they only want 2 forces.

i have fire shield king lv5 (-70% status effect) and 3 jewels with 10% ice reduce and im flarkin immune to dam ice.
why? simply because 70%+10%+10%+10%= 100 flarkin %. thats why

I really doubt ice_warrior was telling the truth when he said he had max fire shield book 4 and % reduc on his jewelry. If he was, he wouldn't be posting all this false information

Cuchulain said it early on Ice is useful in some situations, but not all. I'd agree.

Ice has lower damage but freezes monsters. Some people are immune to ice, many are not (or may forget their buff). For those reasons it's still a viable skill, but I wouldn't hang my hat on it as my only source of damage.

how often does the game get tweaked? u think they might tweak in future so that ice users get a chance in PVP?
