Magic: The Gathering

Post by nitrofreez »

I was just wondering if anyone plays it. I myself have just started and I enjoy it so far. For those of you who do play it, what are your favourite cards? When did you start playing?

Also, if you do play, what are your thoughts and opinions on the new Shards of Alara set?

Feel free to discuss.

Funny thing, just got back from a tourney.

Shards seems like it can be fun to play with, those artifacts will be fun to play with. Tap and get 1 hp? I love it. Right now I'm playing with a kithkin deck with 3 Ajanis in it. My favorite has to "Steel of the Godhead". Favorite combo would be "Kithkin Harbinger" + "Thoughtweft Trio", Kithkin Harbringer basicly lets me find "Thoughtweft Trio" for me to put into next turn, then i champion Harbringer with Thoughtweft trio. Once Thoughtweft trio gets taken out of play, i can then go searching for another thoughtweft trio.

Thoughtweft trio is 5/5 that can block multiple creatures, has vigilance and first strike.

I've won several games because of "Steel of the Godhead". +2/+2 to a blue/white creature with lifelink and unblockable. Almost all of my deck cost 4 and under.

Used to play it. Started at 8th edition and stopped at Mirrodin. I forgot most of the good cards I have other than Visara. It's a pretty fun game, but I have no one to play with. xD

A lot of guys at school used to play this. They would sit at the lunch tables and play all lunch for cash. I really didn't see the attraction towards it.
Ooh, I got a sexy ex-staff title!

I used to play quite a lot; my favorite deck was based on making the opponent empty his hand and taking damage for it.

Nice :) I'm thinking of trying either the Jund or Naya packs. Are they any good?

And so far, my favourite deck has to be my sliver deck. I've modified it so that i can get them out quickly, buff them up, and pretty much make them unblockable  Very fun

I think I found most of my deck in the closet. :) It contains cards like: Geth's Grimoire, Persecute, some Tutors, Duress, Funeral Charm, Hymn to Tourach, The Rack, Megrim, Dark Ritual, Duress, Stupor, and some destruction cards like Nevinyrral's Disk and terror. I believe I used a sideboard with some anti-color cards like Gloom and Deathgrip. When an opponent draws a card he can either play it directly (if I don't Funeral Charm it) or lose it on my turn.

Yes, it is simpleler (considering it's made for children). You don't have to depend on getting enough mana.

I used to play it. I started around Mirrodin block and stopped playing it somewhere around 10th block.
