Nope its not contradicting anything. I was using "God" as an example i should of just said afterlife. Those "ghost" you see on TV are faked, therefore, i cant prove that one exists. However, i did see a ghost, and its not arguable because its my word against yours. You don't always die peacefully, so how can you "think" of your accomplishments in your deathbed. What if get shot? What if you have a heart attack and die right there on spot?

Because I don't believe in an afterlife all that matters is the here and now. Life is not about having a non-stop party. Life is difficult, it involves self-reliance, responsibility, and trust. Life means working hard, enjoying the fruits of your labor, and dieing. If life never ended then there is no incentive to accomplish great things. If my death is early, painful, and abrupt I won't fear because I have lived a good and moral life. I know that my actions and words had an effect on those around me. Our actions, our words, and our thoughts all have an effect on those around us. So if you know you did something worthwhile, afterlife or no afterlife, death (painful or peaceful, early or late, slow or quick) should hold no surprises.

It makes the answer easy and obvious; I can't respect what I don't believe in, but to respect a manipulative and coercive concept like religion is something I could never bring myself to do. I can sit in awe of the great and terrible things religious men have done; however, I can't respect the concept of controlling another man's life. So the idea of religion? Do I respect it? No. Do I see it as an unnecessary evil? Yes.
