The reason I liked COD4, and I don't like the the previous ones is that for years from the age where we can barely spell, we learn in school about the second world war. The areas, the real life outcome, all that leads to a game that's bland.

But, I think there are ways to remedy this. I would love to see a WW2 game that has to do with a russian farmer who loses his family to the advancing nazis, and has to take up a sniper rifle to slow them down for as long as he can. Or, a submarine crew that runs into mechnical problems and at night sneaks into new york, and you have the game revolve around them trying to sneak into a cargo ship heading into france (stealth based game). Even similar to that, a german battleship gets cornered off of a south american coast, and they abandon ship and the game has to do with travelling through the forest to make it to an axis-friendly country.

The trailer is clearly pacific theatre ww2. I can't really remember a good FPS that was able to pull off the greatness of running through the rain forest with bullets flying. It might be in WW2 but it's still trying something that isn't too overdone, and I will definately buy it when it comes out. Seeing that sniper climb into the palm tree made me wet.

edit: after seeing those pictures, I guess the "world at war" is really litteral. It looks like they picked settings that aren't totally overused - that russian looks pwn sauze, and catalinas are 1337.

This game is going to Farking suck. It's not made by Infinity Ward, but by Treyarch who made Call of Duty 3 which was shit.

I absolutely WILL love this game. I hate modern/futuristic set shooters. I like the old, skills required weapons.

And btw, this isn't just another WWII game. It is set in Japan, which most of the WWII shooters aren't.

cod5 is going to suck, just like cod 4,, cod formula is WW2 not modern warfare and not vietnam war,, im dutch and i have more feeling for the europe maps as for vietnam and middle east,,

cod is going way much to become a battlefield shooter,, and battlefield is like, waiting, waiting, hey i see someone, oh its a teammate,, waiting waiting, (in the mean while some peep with exploid shoots you with a tank way way before you cant even see him)

bf is suckie, cod will become suckie if they dont stick to small intense battlemaps prefer set in europe,, cod is succes cause of spawn, 5 sec, and your in a batlle, if you die, respawn in few secs, and your direct in a battle again,, its aimed at playing not in waiting for seeing someone and then some exploid peep shoots you way before you can aim at him,,

I will buy this CoD, as I bought every CoD and I'm sure I'll like it...I want to shoot, I don't care if it's in Europe, Asia or the future (Although I'm glad they didn't go back to the WWII in Europe hehe, too many games about that already).

The new BIA is a Farking major let down. Fun game, once you get into it the game is over. Only about 6-10 hours of playtime. Very lame, not worth it less you 'acquire' it and then delete.

To the people who seem to think that COD5 is a Vietnam game, it isn't. It is the pacific theatre og WWII. Meaning USA vs. Japan. I am pretty sure there is also Russia vs. Germany but I am not 100% sure of that.
