There's a gun show this weekend at the local armory and I need some input on my choices for what I'll be looking for. Ok well I really don't need input but I like new topics as much as the next person.
1) AK47, or similar variant:
2) Mauser K98k:
3) Mosin Nagant M91/30:
4) SKS:
5) Possibly a handgun of some sort.
I won't be buying all of these if they're at the show, just one or two. And that's if they're at the show. Should run around $300 tops for the most expensive rifle (AK47) and around $70 at the least (M91/30). Flame if you want, I don't give a shit.
Yeah Nagants are nice rifles, I'm more of a collector than a shooter so that's why it made my list. Most people that collect own at least one. The trick is finding one in decent condition.

it shouldn't be that hard to find a workable one. Russia made so many during WWII..afghans still use it today. I got to handle one at an airshow, its awesome
My friend had one, it was nice but the shellac finish the Russians commonly put on their older rifles tends to age badly. Finding one that doesn't have damage much from the shellac, and one that isn't electro-penciled to have matching parts is a little tough, but not impossible. As a collector these things matter lol. If I get one I'm going to try and get one with original matching parts and fair quality.
ak-47 is overrated, so what if its such a good gun, everyone has it and everyone sees it all the time. You're much better off getting a classic like a mosin-nagant
When I clicked on this thread, I was expecting some idiot picture with a guy flexing his "guns", but I was pleasantly surprised to see that it wasn't a pun
I chose the Mosin, don't bring the AK, there will probably be 100s of them there
Well, it depends on the quality of what is there. Buy any of the options if they are in good condition. Personally, I'd get a Mosin-Nagant over any of the other options but I can't own a gun in Canada anyway (unless it is a hunting rifle/shotgun).
I have the Nagant and the SKS. Love those guns, always fun to shoot...they really are excellent shooters. Great guns for anyone wanting to start to, since the older rifles like the Nagant are cheap, unlike modern weapons. Working on a Del-Ton DTI now.

Good for you man. I can't wait for some pictures of your hardware, and holding/having something as cool as the AK-47 must be a real blast.
Good Buy.
Yeah it does look nasty carrying it around. It was a little more pricey than I'd hoped at $450 but it was worth it since the package came with a sling, bayonet, mag pouch, 2 30 round mags, 2 bayonet frogs (the thing you put it in to carry on your belt), and a standard but heavily used AK cleaning kit. That and he replaced the bayonet in the deal because the one it would've come with had a stuck release button. The rifle itself is new, but like most imports the gear it comes with is probably surplus/used. No complaints here though lol, I'm probably going to take it shooting tomorrow.
I'll edit this post with pics once I can find the cd for my camera.

That much for a WASR? Got mine for $325 with all accessories
