Techno / Dance recomendations
As of the past month or so i have really been getting into the techno music genre, as opposed to my normally mainstream power metal ways. Due to my lack of downloading music and general knowledge about this genre im not too sure what artists are good and worth downloading.
Some artists i've taken a liking to are prodigy, fatboy slim and pendulum but thats about as far as it extends. Does anyone know any good artists that resemble that kind of style? Any recommendations would be greatly accepted ^_^

Re: Techno / Dance recomendations
well i don't know that many names, for i mostly listen to
techno and dance while i'm at work so i usually turn on an
internet radio channel. CrimsonNuker recently sent me a
great one; http://www.di.fm
at this online radio channel there's non stop music with
just one commercial like every 30 minuts, promoting their
own site. if you click the "listen now" tab, you can choose
a music style (i normally pick the first one, electro house),
and you can load it into windows media player or some other
players and stream the music.
like i said, i don't know any names, but this online channel
shows a couple of artist names of what is playing at the time.
there's lots of styles to choose from, like electro house,
dance, lounge, drum&bass, etc. maybe you will find the name of
the style that suits you best, after which you can download
more music of the same style.
hope that helps :]

Re: Techno / Dance recomendations
Thanks for the link cin, thats just the kind of thing im looking for in all honesty.
cheers =]
EDIT
With that website you linked me is it possible to stream whilst playing sro without any lag? Im only on a 256k connection so would the streaming of the songs slow down my connection considerably? Im slightly confused by how it works >_>

http://www.di.fm is awesome. I'm on DSL, but all is fine. Streaming goes well, and lag-less. My favorite channels are Vocal Trance, Progressive and Trance

Re: Techno / Dance recomendations
I think you might also like the genre of Hardstyle. It's extremely popular in Europe (Belgium, Nederlands, France, Italy other European Countrys).
It's also extremely large in citys of Australia (Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne), and is the music used to 'Shuffle' to (The form of dance).
-Showtek
-DJ Tiesto
-DJ Zanny
meh, will add more when I get home.

Re: Techno / Dance recomendations
Try going to http://www.last.fm
You put in an artist and it will make a custom radio station for you with similar artists. You can either +love them or +hate them. Loving them will add similar sounding songs to your custom radio channel, hating will remove them.
What's nice is that it shows the artists names - you can browse their bios/profiles, check out their discography...all that good stuff.
The more you use it, the better of an idea it gets on what kind of music you like. So if some of the first songs are weird, just +hate them, eventually it'll find your groove.

Re: Techno / Dance recomendations
I'm fairly new to techno myself, but one I can recommend is Daft Punk. They're brilliant! You should give them a listen.

I personally hate Showtek, I got a bunch of songs, but never listen to them.
I don't MIND Tiesto, though he isn't my favorite, and this list of 3 names was off my head I was just thinking what I had on my iPod really.
