Did you know the bible is one of the "most" scientific books out there today? Yes believe it and do some research. http://www.eternal-productions.org/101science.html

1]With time the proper instruments are found. With those instruments test can be done that will prove what is "shady". No way in recreating those events? Obviously you're talking about evolution and obviously you're posting what Venom told you. Evolution for dummies is simple to understand: It is adaptation and change over time. Evolution can be tested given a large amount of time (macro e). Micro evolution is fact and has been tested. I'm sure you didn't know this. As for the big bang. There's a nice instrument under France. It's goal is to recreate the big bang. Given enough time and the proper instruments any event can be recreated. If it can't be tested multiple times by multiple people then it isn't very scientific. Did I forget to mention you must be UM blind.

2]The bible isn't scientific. Do you even know what science is? Did Venom feed you that BS?

So your saying science is magic? Because according to science "nothing" did make "something" :P

Forget it. You're an idiot.

*sigh* How am i an idiot? Because im debating with you? REELAXXX Kid.

1]Did you know that most scientist REJECT the theory of evolution? Here is another wonderful website you can check out. http://www.ridgenet.net/~do_while/sage/v5i10f.htm

2]The Bible is in fact scientific, and contains many scientific evidence on all sorts of topics. (Do some research, check the website i posted earlier... dont be UM blind)

3]Oh and about the recreation of the "Big Bang" If it does happen and if it does prove "things". I will come back and i will honestly apologize to you.

4]The Koran and the bible are different.

http://www.carm.org/islam/Bible_koran_diff.htm

The Torah is IN the bible...

The Torah is just the first 6 books of the old testament. The Jews study the Torah. The bible is all those books, plus the rest of the old testament, and the new testament

1] Most scientist DON'T reject the theory of evolution. That's just a rumor creationist started to make their viewpoint seem like it's gaining some ground among the scientific community (which it isn't).

2]NO, the bible is NOT scientific.

3]I don't take the big bang seriously. To much theorizing not enough testing and proving.

4]Learn2Read:
Torah = Bible = Quran. Each one has slight modifications but they're all the same.

Your right, the bible was used for alot of wrongful doings in society. But it wasn't used for that purpose. Please click Here The bible has a lot of science in it.

Those quotes are subjected to a wide range of interpretation and also mistranslation. Considering many of the words used in those bible quotes were not even around at the time of the bible it extremely hard to believe that that was the message the authors were trying to convey. Where the quotes are not open to mistranslation they merely express knowledge that was widely known at the time. There is a reason why societies are often built around running water and ship building was practiced by the Egyptians long before the bible was written. I could go on but it's pointless my message is clear.

Taking bible verses out of context you can find a reason or vague explanation or anything as people have consistently done over the years, using these techniques the church managed to convince people the world was flat and that slavery was approved by God.

Watching the video. I don't like to write off videos as nonsense unless it's a VFX video. The first minute confuses me though: How can you be a creationist first and a Christian second. I was under the impressions (and still am) that because creationism is an Abrahamic concept and finds it's origins in the bible belt of America that you had to be some kind of theist to believe it. So he concluded that a creator had to exist and that creator had an intelligent design in mind. That belief is Christian. Maybe I'm wrong. Now back to the video.

Idk. I think fear is a factor. Is society the driving cause behind creationism? Has free Government perpetuated the spread of ignorance? More to come. Still watching. I'm on 1 minute 30 seconds. I watch this video as a skeptic but I'm keeping an open mind. He referred to the bible and believes the Earth is 6000 years old. That's not very scientific of him. Back to the video. Now he says that Science says there are no problems with the theory of evolution. Thankfully he follows up with; "I'm here to tell you they're wrong." Agreed there are problems but are these discrepancies enough to discard the entire theory? I think not. On to the next few minutes. While evolutionary astronomers may not have it all figured out they put forth effort to refine the theory. He hasn't gotten to his main point yet so I'll just have to sit and listen. A good read: Planetesimals. So because they don't fully understand how it works the theory is debunked? I don't understand his logic. Does that mean electro-magnetism isn't real? Because it isn't understood? That is not scientific nor is it logical. 7 minutes in and he's already making mistakes. Interesting. He uses Mercury as his key point but the problem is that he doesn't credit the evolutionist and he states a evolutionist concludes that the current opinion is that Mercury can't have a magnetic field due to it's size. First this is the same rambling that creationist commonly use to discredit Darwin's biological approach to Evolution by saying that Darwin himself didn't agree with Evolution. To have the audacity to stand before the audience and actually lie to them is just beyond me. It is well known Scientist don't know how magnetism works and any attempt to explain it or discredit another Theory with it should be taken with a grain of salt. Part 2, five minutes in, and he's started to actively use a straw man to prove his point. That alone should be enough to show any further argument is invalid but I'll keep listening. I see the problem. He's like VFX, he treats evolution as an absolute truth and goes at it with a theist mindset. He ask the viewer to be unbiased but here he is being biased arguing against a straw man. He's using an anomaly to disprove a theory... Wow, just wow. I guess Psychology must be a myth like unicorns. Then he follows up with a passage from the bible.

Conclusion: Although his arguments are valid his premise that a few anomalies are enough to debunk an entire theory is wrong. Evolution simply need be refined (or thrown out and replaced with a stronger theory of similar origin) and all will be well. Try to debunk creationism with this same logic and you'll lose because it is based on faith. Faith is not Science. Creationist need to stop trying to pass it as Science and need to start proving their view with cold hard facts instead of quoting passages from scripture or they can accept the fact that their beliefs are not Scientific and are in fact religious.

A Plane is not a bird; however, they do the same thing. They fly.

Re: Do you guys believe in god?

So one day a couple thousand years ago... there was a guy who spoke to the children of Abraham.
He called himself "The Son of Man".
He said that he didn't choose the words that he spoke but instead spoke what he heard The Father say.
The top leaders of his religion replied to him, "Abraham is our father."

They were told, "If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham. But you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth which was heard from God. Abraham would not do this."

But he didn't leave it at that. He went on to say, "You do the deeds of your father."

The leaders of his religion did not miss his point. They understood him and replied, "We were not born of fornication. We have one Father - GOD!"

The conversation continued, "If God were you Father, you would love me because I proceeded forth and came from God, nor have I come of myself, but HE sent me. Why do you not understand my speech? It is because you are not able to listen to my word. You are of your father, the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own, for he is a liar and the father of it."

"Because I tell you the truth, you do not believe me. Which one of you convicts me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? He who is of God hears God's words: THEREFORE YOU DO NOT HEAR BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT OF GOD.

only i can hear the voices because he only wants to speak to me.

im modern society when a person lets the "voices" interfere with their daily life they are called crazy. There is a reason for this.

I was speaking to a guy earlier in this thread.
His point was that there was too much hypocrisy in religion.

Then, while reading my bible I heard the same thing,
but in different words.

My opinion:

Its an arrogant and selfish thing to assume, god exists only for us. The assumption of god creating humans AND sending his own son to die for us is the statement of our weakness/cluelessness. Acknowledged, godlike entities may exist. I even believe god exists, but thats all. As Kojito wrote, we dont understand. We are crying babies who are imprevious to reality, building their own world on beliefs, imagining things like "im special, god created me and the world for me", lieing to themselfs, cant stand in the face of the truth, wich drives them mad and crazy.

So i stand for closing this topic. Its like we are in a dark room trying to figure out on wich kind of furniture we are sitting.
Utterly pointless. Cant describe with words.

Did Napoleon Bonaparte exist?
Can we accurately quote him?
"Throw off your worries when you throw off your clothes at night."
Did Ghengis Khan exist?
Did Conan the Barbarian try to quote him?
"No. To crush your enemies, and see them fall at your feet - to take their horses and belongings, and to hear the lamentation of their women. That is the best life."
Does Conan the Barbarian exist?

Okay, maybe Conan only exists in the mind of those influenced by Hollywood.
Certainly Governor Arnold exists though.
Did Ramses II exist?
Did he have 8 wives?
Did they give him more than 100 sons?
"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!"

Did Abraham exist?
Is it "arrogant" to think that? Or to quote him?

Okay, let's examine that.
How does one know without being an eye witness?

Perhaps you would suggest that unless there were contemporary witnesses of an event it did not happen? The discussion was about Abraham for reason. I have ties to him, blood ties. If you wish to attempt to deny the entire history of Israel because you cannot bring yourself to believe something that credible eye witnesses reported, so be it.

No one (afaik) doubts the existence of Abraham. He was a Sumerian that rebelled against his father's house. What they doubt is the existence of a Deity or g(G)od. I like to keep it simple:

If it's supernatural then it's not real.

Barotix, Atheists didn't like the idea of creation coming into being instantly. They named the idea proposed by their opponents the "Big Bang" but never thought the term would catch on. It was a derogatory term. They hated anything that implied creation and resisted any and all theories based on that belief.

From a cosmological point of view it is ironic that the examination of physical, observable evidence brings mankind to again search for the unobservable. Is "dark matter" or "dark energy" natural? Hardly. Non-baryonic, non-electromagnetic stuff is hardly "natural". It strikes me as strange that those who believe so desperately in "nature" have nothing left to do but look outside for any answer to their existence.

There was a time when not too long ago the universe was thought to be in an eternal state of expansion and contraction cycles. That "answer" to the dilemma didn't last long. There is no way to understand the only other alternative to creation. Can you give me one example (other than the Big Bang) where something came from nothing?

We know the universe is expanding. That means that it was smaller a thousand years ago. Smaller still the further back in time you go. According to current theory, if we go back all the way in time to the point of origin we arrive at the moment of the BANG. What before? God is eternal, He is outside of our understanding. Outside of time and space. Abraham believed God and became the father of many nations. That was nature. Observable nature. His children were taught about his experiences. If you would wish to make him, and his children liars and deceivers, so be it.

But don't call it natural. The stars were put in the heavens by God for seasons and times and for signs. Signs portray meaning. Nature itself speaks of God.
