Stun "1 level" ???
what does the level of the effect actually mean? does stun "level 1" differ from stun "level 9" ? the same goes for other status such as dull or bleed.
that is to say, can a warlock get a lvl 1 stun, and still hope for the same result, or a cleric get lvl 1 'heaven glare' and still hope it to have the same "80%" chance to 'bind' ?
and if it is different, does it affect the probability to inflict the stat in the 1st place, or just affect its duration?

Re: Stun "1 level" ???
afaik, it means that the higher the level of the status the more effective it will stick to the enemy. like a lvl 8 bind will be more successive than a lvl 1. but thats my take.

yeah. plus if u get stun level 1 onto a 8x char, it will only last a split second. stun 8 or stun 9 will last alot longer.

The higher lever, higher possibilty for it to stick to a higher lvl.

Re: Stun "1 level" ???
so the percentage remains constant, but the duration is different..
but there are some skills such as 'slumber' from the warlock tree that specify time "casts sleep for 20 seconds", or 'daze' that stuns for 5 seconds.. so if the time is constant and the probabilty is constant, then lv "1" slumber is exaclty as efficient as lvl 9 slumber.
u can actually experience this if u get bugged by a noob level warlock when u are pvping infront of DW south gate.

Stun never lasts 5 seconds, for my warlock it last a random amount of time between 1 and 5 seconds >_<

What Norain_, Fly, and _Panu_ said.
Generally there's an very low chance that effects will work after about 2 degree's higher.
EX: Level 6 debuff's are usually only effective on the person up until he's 72-75, somewhere in that area. Once they're in the higher 70's (76-78+) it's almost impossible to debuff them.
I'm not sure if the level's and degree's actually work together in some way, but I've just noticed that while warlocking. Same for mobs, it's easier to get status's on the ones that are up to 2 degrees/level's/whatevers higher.

Slumber: Throws slumber seed on enemies to make them fall into slumber.
Skill level 1: Inflict Sleep status. Sleep effect will be canceled if the target is hit or casted on.
80% chance to inflict Sleep status. Lasts 20 Seconds.
Sleep (2nd Grade).
not so sure about stun though..

Yeah, it's kinda rigged... That warlock Stun Mask Skill... YOu see low lvl warlocks running around casting them while on job pvp, it's really annoying... Lvl 3 can stun u so many times and it has the same 5 secs effect...
But hmm, I guess if you'll leave it at chance, lvl 9 is much more effecting than lvl 3... Bleck, pvping a warlock @ 90 almost lands their stuns 100% of the time...

exactly.. thats my point.
what is the point of even bothering to farm any further than lv 1 ??

no, i dont think so.. the spell simply has the effect percentage written on it, so the spell has a soild chance of 80% to cast stun whatever level u can it on.

The later books hit multiple targets. To get the later books you need to max the first book ( to my knowledge, most skills are like that ). Hence theres a good reason to level them up.
Also im pretty sure there are stones that prevent stun ( theres a thread about it somewhere, im not going to look it up ), hence another reason to level them up.

still not proving ur point.. ur talking about "slumber" and "deep slumber". u can still farm ONLY level 1 "deep slumber" and leave the rest..

what do u mean stones? as in stones that add blues to accesories?
that would be a big 'ouch' for warlocks.. like the staus pills were not enough

Nope... Trust me, you'd want a higher level of stun... Level 8 Stuns doesn't land as much as Level 9 does, especially on pvp.

ok, suppose that is right for stun.. what about slumber? it clearly says it lasts for 20 seconds, so this is totally useless to farm
what does the word "level" for an effect even stand for ?!

Re: Stun "1 level" ???
Well sleeps level is quite simple.
You see those stones you posted before? A lvl 1 stone would cancel out lvl 1 sleep, a lvl 2 stone cancel out lvl 2 sleep.. etc.
So in other words the higher level stun the better chance of it landing.
( it might not work exactly like that but you get the point, the better the level and the lower the resistance the more likely it will land )

Re: Stun "1 level" ???
Warlock stun used to be so broken. A level 16 warlock could use their stun on people fifty levels ahead of them with a 95% success rate. Scream mask was the same. Now, the level of stun actually matters, and a higher level stun works more often AND increases the duration of stun.
Sleep always went by degrees. Even though level 1 sleep lasts the same time as level 9 sleep, level 1 sleep WILL ALWAYS fail on higher levels. So it is imperative to level up both sleep and stun skills now.

LoL, then good luck landing your lvl 1 Sleep on Lvl 90 Char...

This is correct, a lower level stun has a higher chance of being resisted, even if you have disease on the target, the same rule applies with sleep!

seems to me the effect level influences the duration of the effect. the probability of making the effect is already given in the %.

Is it just me, or does the bows stun not last as long as other ones. Everytime i get stunned in pvp, its always for a good 5 seconds. When i stun someone with my bow, it feels like it lasts half as long
. Anyone else notice this?

Does disease affect the probability of stun?
Its been noticed by couple of my friends that diseases actually increase the probability of sleep, but not stun.
People pvp like, Stun > debuffs > sleep then nuke or switch to cleric and offering.
And higher the lvl of the skill, more the chance that your opponent wont resist it.
If stun lvl 8 = 20% chance (just suppose) then ur opponent will resist the other 80% of times.
Now, if stun lvl is 7 and ur opponent is 8D, then the probability decrease, nobody knows the certain or approx probability decrease, but lets assume it decreases by 10%, so that is, 20% - 10% = 10%
So, if u got stun lvl 7 = 10% chance that ur opponent will get stunned
lvl 8 stun - 20% chance
lvl 7 stun - 10% chance
and so on, these are just imaginaroy numbers used for explaination coz accurate values are not available.
So lower the skill lvl, less the chance of u inflicting the damage/effect caused by it on your same degree opponent, if you read it twice u may get it properly lol
i think i am clear here, my english sucks so yeah w.e :p

Not really for several reasons.
1)Its resistance.
2)It's rare to get. Rare as sox drops.
3)Chance of failing.
4)10D only.
So a stone drops a day the odds of getting 100% would be rare. Unless someone buys the stone that drops every day at <insert insanely priced here>
Also about the stuns.. higher level = better chance of stunning unless you're against an axe user. <Axe passive of 50% resistance of everything and anything>

if your a warlock and your talking about the stun skill then yes lvl it up...your chances of stunning someone 8D or 9D with stun lvl 1 is like 1/20 lol ...and why else would they have you lvl it up if it didnt change the duration or chance of stunning someone better..

Re: Stun "1 level" ???
tedtwilliger wrote:Does disease affect the probability of stun?
From what I have noticed it does, it is very hard to stun another person, even if they are the same level as you, without disease first, or at least that has been my experiance.
