Does Joymax ban legits?

I've always been very sceptical with regards to reports about legit people being banned, but the following post on the forums caught my attention:

We did the same experiment on Xian. We plvled 5 chars to around the lvl 21 mark with no silk and then stalled them. All 5 over 4 weeks were banned. They did not have any gear on nor a weapon so unless they were punching mangyangs while we slept they had not killed a single mob themselves.

Joymax lost my groups monthly ransom (silk) consisting of 5 longterm players each with min of 5 accounts (we even put ticket and silk on our bards / buffers) spending aprox 200 usd per account. We used to really enjoy the game and did not mind forking over our play money to help support the game.

Because of the results of our experiment we concluded that we cannot trust Joymax and cannot trust our characters we invested our time and money into will exist each Tuesday Morning.

I wonder if the CEO of joymax realizes that this cancer on the game is going to cause it to die. What good is a "bot" ban if you cannot be assured that only the guilty are punished.

If this is true, then it's food for thought at least. Since I'm a regular silk buyer I'm not too worried about my own legit accounts, but it does appear worrysome. Any thoughts?

RandomNub1, RandomNub2, RandomNub3... RandomNub60 (Two PC-s + laptop - I even posted picture somewhere)
(I deleted them when they hitted 16, but noone was banned, I still have all 5 accounts I made for RandomNubs)

Well, 2 remarks. According to the post, the cut-off level seems to be level 21, and what was also important is that they made the characters stall 24/7.

JM bans chars who have been online more than X hours / week. It would explain why spam bots and most stallers are banned. Yes?

I have an experimental character too that I play on a spare PC in my basement (for a different MAC code) and have never bought silk on him. I play him occasionally and watch the ban lists, but so far nothing. He's level 26 or 27 now, I think, and I've taken my sweet time leveling him (over 6 months, back when the bans began anew). I have stalled on him perhaps twice in that time

I also have a secondary account that I don't play often, two mid-30's characters.

By the sounds of things, there must be a specific thing JM is looking for, not just people who don't buy silk, but perhaps people who sit AFK or stall frequently???

If you have only 1 incoming IP, you wont get banned. Simple as that.

<theory>The more time a player (non-silk buyer) spends in towns, the possibility of being banned increases. This is why most people's academy characters do not get banned. It might also explain why players that get powerleveled do not get banned until they are higher level when they decide to go PvP (and thus go in and out of towns more often).</theory>

Two or three weeks ago, I logged a character of mine I had made over 2 years ago. The build was awesome as well. A hybrid Blader/Glaiver with ice/fire/light/force leveled. Anyway, I was on my character for about an hour just chatting with friends in Hotan. I went to sleep but left my character sitting in Hotan all night near the stable (that's where my friends and I were hanging out). The next morning, I realized that I had left the character logged in all night so I log off the character and never log back on it again. Come Tuesday after inspection, and lo and behold, my character is on the ban list. A two year old account gone. =( Nothing of value was on it but I liked it having it to remind me of the 'old days'. I should also note that I was using a computer which I had just finished re-installing XP, so it was basically a clean system with only Silkroad on it.

On a side note, whoever starts hissing and spraying that everyone on the ban list must be involved in non-legit activities and therefore deserves to be banned,

I don't see how this can be true, Say if you have 3 Computers in your home, and all 3 are running silkroad Client, So are you telling me that even if your Playing legit, that you're gunna get banned for having more then one Connection from the same Ip?

Yes they ban legits and put them on botters list, if u r lwo lvl and don't buy silks don't sit in town, i know many ppl in my server who didin't bot they play like 1 years and have only ~42 lvl chars, they dun play alot, and now most of them are banned.

i still think legits won't get banned even the non silk buying they are not breaking any rules and they could buy silk in the future and i think most of the poeple that get banned use Multi-Client or PK2 edit's because i have a staller on my second computer he stalls 24/7 almost and is lvl 25 and NEVER got banned

Well, right now all you can do is theorize. Maybe Joymax looks for these four things; if they are present, you get banned.

Eh, I would tend to disagree with this completely.

Someone who has a premium ticket will definitely be on a lot more than someone who doesnt, simply because they can log in whenever they please. And...

lets say Im a PT user, who grinds, and every single moment Im not grinding, I stall. I get DC on average once per day, but notice it no longer than 4 hours after its happened. So. We got 20/24 hours per day online. Would I get banned?

Joymax lost all the monthly planned (silk) I pay for my 25 botted accounts (I even put ticket and silk on my bards / buffers /copy characters of ppl names I dislike ) spending aprox 200 usd per account. I used to really enjoy the game but since I suck and can't play without cheating and everyone else cheats I suck again and don't want to fork over my money to help support the game if it doesn't let me cheat over everyone.


Sirshadow is one of the biggest botters on xian, and the biggest bser i've seen really >.>, he cant pvp without all his alts sitting in safezone buffing him lol, and yes hes got tons of alts, anyone from xian knows the truth, of course he has no friends~ lol.

Just to clarify.. All characters were ran on seperate Pcs with no special loaders ( otherwise what is the point). My intention was to disprove the random banning rumors. None were lvled by botted characters. As I don't play any longer my point in making the post on SRO official was to point out that there is/was a problem. Like the Website authentication sql injection issue joymax will only act and accept responsibility when confronted with overwelming demands to fix its issues.

Just a side note, Whatever you may infer or assume about my high lvl characters, they are parked at lvl 90 in retirement. I have been investigated for botting twice and never recieved a ban of any sorts other that a spam ban for Announcing that there will be 30% more gold left on the ground in the caves just before a 30% more event. (giggle)

As for Darkies bs, he was always intimidated and maybe a little green with my characters after I caught him in a questionable positon with a large outcropping in the archers. You will note that he does not play the game anymore and just sticks around to attack others. "No one cares what you think Jackal, no one ever did. You were just one of the snot nosed little dramaqueens we have all come to know and love while playing this game."

BEcause they were form legit unions and i parited daily with one of them, the other i knew him for years and he was lvl 35 warlock, 3 rd i dont remember who it was but he was in BH

I was wondering if the bans are not related to the time you spend iddle in town, so stalling, staying there bcse you don't want to disconnect bcse server is full? Something like 24h/24 in town without moving during a couple of days? It could explain why the gold spammers and some gold stall chars are removed after inspection.

I know a couple of banned players, but they at least used a non swear filter or smthing like that. Not a "real" bot to help them level up but a 3rd program running.

I don't think the IP control is involved bcse lots of egyptian, malaysian, turkish and east european players play from an internet cafe using the same IP and at the same time
