I use to have a parrot not to long ago, I had it for about 4 months. The parrot didn't really talk that much all it did was fly around. I did teach it to sit on my shoulder when i tapped my feet 4 times. It took a complete 4 months to get it to learn just that alone.
To teach it a trick every time you do some kind of command to it do a hand gesture and give it a snack over time the parrot will understand what you are telling it to do it will automatically sit on your shoulder or talk w/e.

Even though these belong to the parakeet/parrot family, they don't talk and not really do much in the way of tricks. But they make a lovely song and can be really nice pets.

Did you have a look at the link I posted?? If you did then you would realise they are quiet birds and don't make a lot of noise.
